This year the Hauser PTO is partnering with Outreach, Inc., an international 501(c) 3 non-profit, to co-host a “Feed Our Community Day.” This event will take place during the middle of the Canned Food Drive on Saturday, April 14th at Hauser Jr. High School.

On this special day in April, you are invited to join with family, friends, and neighbors to help pack tens of thousands of nutritious “Meals of Hope” for hungry children and families. The meals packed, along with the cans we collect, will be delivered in late April to the Riverside Township Food Pantry, the Salvation Army Red Shield Center Food Pantry in Englewood, and local residents in need.

From now until April 27th, we will be gathering monetary donations. With the money we collect, we will purchase cans of food, as well as prepare meals for hungry children, seniors and families. It only costs $.25 to prepare a meal. Any tax deductible donations collected will help us meet our goal of packing 50,000 meals and collecting 35,000 cans.

Hauser PTO and the Hauser staff are very excited to add the “Feed Our Community Day” to our annual food drive. We hope this addition will show a community at work, collecting cans and packing meals all to fight hunger – what an incredible lesson for our kids!

Looking to combat hunger in Harford County? The EPICENTER is seeking volunteers for our March Health Fair and Food Giveaway.

Each month, The EPICENTER at Edgewood hosts a Health Fair and Food Giveaway, through which we partner with Maryland Food Bank and Tabitha's House to give away more than 7,000 pounds of food to Harford County citizens in need. We will also have various community organizations come and share information and resources, including free employment readiness counseling, free chiropractic care, and more.

Volunteers can help with any of the following tasks: setting up for the Fair, sorting food, bagging food, giving food bags to guests, or cleaning up after the event. In addition, if you speak Spanish, we could always use help translating for Spanish-speaking guests (though Spanish skills are not required.)

Our March Health Fair will take place on Friday, March 9th. We will have the most work for volunteers from 1-4 p.m., though volunteers are also welcome to stay later to help clean up after the event.

If you have time on the 9th and a heart for those in need, we would be delighted to have you serve with us! Also, if you or someone you know are in need of food or other services, you are welcome to receive food or visit with the resources that will be there as well.

Please contact Lauren Savard at laurens@epicenteratedgewood.com with any questions. The EPICENTER is located on Route 40 in the shopping center behind the Walgreen's.

Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin (FAEW) serves 36 counties in Wisconsin, helping to provide meals for nearly 400,000 people experiencing hunger each year. Volunteers work to ensure that food donated to FAEW is safe to distribute to FAEW's member agencies. Volunteers inspect, sort, package, and label various food items, which are then made available for FAEW's agencies to order and pick up. FAEW volunteers help to supply these agencies with millions of pounds of food each year.

Volunteers will help to box products and sort fresh produce from local farmers which will help provide our hungry neighbors with nutritious food. Every day we receive donations of produce from grocery stores and farmers, and it needs to be sorted into mixed pallets. We also have volunteers help with sorting dry goods and frozen meat.
