Each week, 250 volunteers faithfully serve more than 400 families in these ministry areas. Year round our food bank provides practical help to people in need. Clients are scheduled for monthly appointments on Monday afternoons and throughout the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays to come in and shop for items that they need, much like one would do in a typical grocery store. Along with non-perishable food items, our Healthy Choices program receives fresh fruits, vegetables and dairy products from local grocery stores to provide to our clients. These items and bread are available daily from our free cupboard, located in the Food Bank waiting room for those in need. Emergency help in the form of emergency food hampers is also available for first time clients.Help support this program by helping unload, weigh and sort donated food items, stock shelves as well as keeping the food bank area and tools clean
Requirements: Appropriate clothing to work in a warehouse environment (closed toed shoes), asset to be able to life heavy items
Shifts: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 12:00pm and 1:00pm - 4:00pm

With the help of the community and other organizations we are able to provide gifts as well as Christmas dinner.Help support families in need this Christmas by volunteering as a toy packer, registration assistant or an interpreter

Food hampers are available to individuals and families in need in the Greater Vancouver area. No ID is required and no questions are asked. Food Hampers include items such as soup, beans, peanut butter, tuna, vegetables, fruit, macaroni, rice, instant noodles, bread, cheese and margarine.Help package and distribute around 150 food packages to individuals in the local community.
Requirements: Ability to work on feet for long periods, some lifting, ability to work well with others

Following the brief devotional community members are invited to enjoy a warm breakfast and hot beverages prepared by our dedicated staff and volunteers. Community Members will also have an opportunity to connect with other internal and outside resources such as: counselling, personal development support, chaplaincy, and health care.Help support this program as a volunteer by helping set up tables and chairs; prep, cook and serve breakfast to around 50 patrons and clean up the area following the breakfast
Requirements: Ability to lift up to 15lbs, food preparation and serving skills, good interpersonal and communication skills

Gateway of Hope’s state of the art commercial kitchen and meal centre is in constant motion, serving three (3) meals per day to our shelter guests and one (1) meal per day to the public, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
