Duties as a Shift Volunteer at Montville Kiwanis Client-Choice Food Pantry

Client Service:
Greeting clients: Welcome them warmly and answer any questions they have about the pantry or food selection process.
Assisting with food selection: Help clients choose the items they need based on their preferences and dietary restrictions.
Packing groceries: Once clients have chosen their food, carefully pack their bags or boxes, ensuring everything is bagged securely.

Stocking and Inventory:
Sorting donations: Inspect donated food for quality and expiration dates.
Stocking shelves: Keep the pantry shelves well-stocked by rotating and replenishing food items as needed.

Opportunity Details

We need volunteers to perform Facility maintenance and Landscaping. More specifically, Repair buildings and re-finish furniture and Assist with garden cleanup. NO EXPERIENCE Required! This location is where our regular volunteers come to work in the kitchen, and donor and sponsor meetings are here too. We want to be respectful in our neighborhood and our impact starts with the appearance and cleanliness of our kitchen and grounds.

Opportunity Details

Bracken's Kitchen has started direct meal service at Costa Mesa Bridge Shelter, in collaboration with the City of Costa Mesa and Mercy House. A BK chef will prepare meals on site and serve directly to residents at the shelter for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Volunteers will have the opportunity to assist our chef in light prep work, serving food to residents and clean up. A total of two volunteers will be needed per meal shift.

Opportunity Details

We are seeking volunteers to assist in Our Daily Bread food pantry services! We need assistance every 1st, 3rd & 4th Monday of each month from 9am-12pm to help receive and sort food (must be able to lift heavy objects 15-75 lbs) or every Wednesday of the month from 8:30am-11:30am and/or every Thursdays from 12:30pm-3:30pm (light lifting involved). Spanish speaking volunteers needed!

There is parking available on our campus just North of our main entrance on the corner of Central Ave & Washington Blvd.

At Northside Common Ministries (NCM), we are committed to building those bridges that connect our neighbors in need to an improved quality of life, while tearing down the walls that keep the hungry and homeless from success.

An affiliate unit of Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania, NCM operates the Pleasant Valley Emergency Shelter for men and male-identifying individuals aged 18 and older, the Northside Food Pantry, and a Permanent Housing Program for those with disabilities.

We can’t do all that we do without YOU! NCM’s work is supported and facilitated by hundreds of passionate volunteers throughout the year. We need caring and committed people from the community and neighboring organizations to aid clients shopping in the food pantry and to help to keep things running efficiently at the men’s shelter.
