Thousands of children start the school year without proper supplies, we hereby aim to distribute 4000 backpacks with school supplies to students in Westside of San Antonio and surrounding areas. The Westside is one of poorest and underserved communities in San Antonio. In addition to backpack distribution, we are offering FREE health education and screenings to adults and children in the community. The goal is to support students and families towards the upcoming 2023/2024 school year and connect community members with valuable resources.

Here are the FREE services we will be providing:
* Free Health Screening: Mammogram & Vaccination; Wellness Check (BMI, Blood & Sugar, and Blood Pressure Check); Dental & Eye Screening; HIV/AIDS Testing etc.
* Free Backpacks with school supplies for students Pre-K to 12th Grade.
* Free Food Distribution (non-perishable)
* Community and healthcare resources from vendors and health providers.

Ladles of Love has launched our #LoveFood campaign where you can donate R250 per month to feed one child two nutritious meals a day for a month. Or R3000 to feed that child for a year.
In our Early Childhood Development centres, children aged 2 to 6 come from impoverished backgrounds, arriving at the centres without having had a meal. We provide these centres with produce weekly to ensure the little ones are provided with nutritious meals.
We need your help to continue serving them, the most vulnerable, and make sure that their basic need for food is met daily.

The goal is to have Kohl's volunteer help prepare and serve our guests with healthy and nutritious foods in the month of April. Volunteers will help with packing bags of food, staging the shopping area, pulling guests' orders, handing out the orders to our guests, and putting the stock away at the end of the day. All dollars raised by the Kohl's volunteers will be used for Interchange's Healthy Food Project; which supports our Fresh Produce Program, Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway and our Protein Progam.

Opportunity Details

The mission of the Emergency Food Bank in Stockton, is to provide nutrition to those in need throughout San Joaquin County. None of that would be possible without our community partners who volunteer here every day. As a volunteer here, you can expect to assist with preparing and distributing food boxes/bags that will be given out to clients in need. This could look like sorting, loading cars, and/or packing boxes with food. You will be working alongside other volunteers and staff. We service anywhere between 250-450 cars a day, Monday-Friday at our main pantry here in Stockton.
