Hey all you Hunger Heroes!! There are 821 Million people that go to bed hungry every night. 84,000 in just the NE Indiana area alone. Are you ready to do something about it in a fun, family-friendly and impactful way that only takes 2 hours of your time!! Are you in?!? Let’s do this!!

We'll be set up for social distancing and, while face masks are not mandatory, we do recommend them.

While we do not charge a fee to be involved in our Public Packing events, we appreciate donations to further our work to end world hunger. Ideally, we’d like each person or family to cover the cost of one carton of meals.

Just one carton of meals that you will pack feeds 216 children and costs just $60. That’s a mere $.27 per meal! What can we do without once or twice that will equal 216 meals? How many boxes would you like to donate?

We are looking forward to seeing you and partnering with you to feed the hungry!!

However, outside of people gathering at kitchens, there are many others in need of a meal and the sandwiches that are dropped off at our depots across the City gets distributed to those who cannot get to a kitchen.
We encourage you to help us feed more hungry individuals across the City. A jam and peanut spread on 2 slices makes a sandwich we can easily distribute. Please package them back into the sandwich bags and drop them off at your nearest depot.

Background of Made in Hackney and the community meal service

Made In Hackney opened its doors in 2012 as the UK’s first fully vegan community cookery school and charity. We collaborate with communities to showcase and develop skills, knowledge and inspiration to grow, cook and eat more plants.

The kitchen started as a response to global and local crisis – health inequalities, food access and climate change. These interconnected issues drive our mission to bring about positive change in the areas of community, health and environment with delicious, culturally varied, nutritious plant-based food at the centre of all we do.

During the pandemic, we delivered about 1,500 meals per week.

The Community Made service currently cooks and delivers about 400 meals per week to households struggling with food access, and to food banks.
