Title: Volunteer Warehouse Assistant
Location: Kingsfield Way, Northampton
Purpose of the role: To assist the Service Manager with the general Warehouse tasks
What tasks may be involved?

• Loading/unloading boxes from the van
• Picking and packing food items
• Moving small and large/heavy items and boxes
• Adhering to all health and safety within the warehouse environment
• Getting packages/items ready to be sent to different service areas
• Cleaning/clearing up
• Communicating with members of the public who are dropping off donations etc.

What qualities or skills would be useful?
• General level of fitness as some lifting will be involved
• Ability to work on own or as part of a very small team
• Trustworthy
• Flexible, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude required.
• Sense of humour goes a long way too!

Opportunity Details

Title: Volunteer Progress Mentor – L4L
Location: 35 – 37 Ash Street, Northampton, NN1 3DS
Purpose of the role: Assist in the effective operation of our Skills Hub; talking and assisting people in our Skills Hub, often in need or in crisis (always supported by paid staff)
Hours: This role runs Monday to Saturday in 2 - 4 hour shifts. The right candidate will be able to commit at least 2 days per week on the same days. Get in contact to discuss your availability.

What tasks may be involved?
• Encouraging Service users to engage in Work Based Learning and Therapeutic Groups
• Participating in delivery of groups and activities
• Attending Work Based Learning Placements with Service Users
• Drive Hope Minibus, escorting service users to work placements and external activities
• Supporting service users to attend training
• Welcome customers to the Hope Centre and the services it offers.
• Helping service users to fill forms in.
• Offer encouragement to join in activities and workshops.
• Supporting with distribution of clothing and toiletries and maintaining stocks on reception desk
• Monitoring the environment in the Skills Hub and reporting any incident or challenging behaviour to the Support Workers or Management

What qualities or skills would be useful?
• Previous experience working in a support, care, or mental health environment
• Reliable and trustworthy
• Ability to work on own or as part of a very small team
• Flexible, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude required.

Opportunity Details

Title: Volunteer Maintenance Worker and PAT Tester
Address: Based in our Ash Street office (NN1) but travel between Northampton-based sites will be necessary
Purpose of the role: To oversee repairs, servicing, and grounds maintenance across The Hope Centre’s various sites.

The ideal Volunteer will be able to commit 2 weekdays P/W to The Hope Centre and will have a full UK driving license.

What tasks may be involved?
• Conduct PAT tests of tools from our tool workshop, along with other appliances
• Perform basic tasks including changing lightbulbs, cleaning facilities, and managing maintenance repairs
• Perform repairs on company machinery, equipment, or appliances.
• Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.
• Repair tools and other electricals
• Changing light bulbs and ensuring other fixtures and fittings are in good working order
• Minor plumbing and carpentry
• Clearing or cleaning general areas
• Shifting furniture or equipment
• Assembling/repairing furniture or equipment
• Minor painting and decorating

What qualities or skills would be useful?
• A passion for tools, gardening and handywork
• General level of fitness as some lifting/climbing will be involved i.e. crates and tables, ladders etc.
• PAT training (this can be provided)
• Be able to work on your own or as part of a team
• A friendly demeanor and a good sense of humor!

Purpose of the role: To assist in the general running of our Catering Club kitchen.

What tasks may be involved?
• Raise awareness of The Hope Centre to the general public via our Social Media accounts
• Advertise events and other activities the charity takes part in
• Sharing stories and photos on social media within our brand guidelines
• Coming up with ideas to help us grow our social media presence on different platforms to raise awareness of the charity and the fantastic work we do
• Create and schedule engaging content that celebrates the work we do.
• You will be working on our Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and other socials
• Assist in social media projects and campaigns - Ensuring we a get broad social media reach

What qualities or skills would be useful?
• Good English language skills
• Applicants should have an extensive knowledge of all social media platforms
• An interest and understanding of the local community
