THE MINT food pantry seeks to remove the barrier to healthy food options and to eliminate food insecurity in the communities it serves. This program aligns with our mission by serving the community by nurturing while promoting self-reliance and empowerment. The food pantry does this by addressing a basic need, food security, to alleviate poverty and improve overall quality of life. Volunteers will assist clients as they shop , stock and restock shelves and provide a friendly experience to those in need

On Tuesday nights, volunteer groups from the community prepare, provide, and serve meals to the families in our Transitional Housing and at our Transitional Living and Learning Center (TLLC). Our families are working hard to make the transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency and we like to bless their efforts with a meal
so that they can focus on Tuesday Life Skills Classes. This is a great opportunity to serve SAMMinistries’ families first hand.

MEALS MUST BE SERVED AT 5:30PM
Past meals have included:
- Side: Salad, Green beans, fruit, corn-on-the-cob, chips, mashed potatoes.
- Main Dish: Casserole, pasta, barbeque, hamburger, hot dogs, subs.
- Desert: Fruit salad, pudding , brownies, cookies, cake, ice cream
- Beverage: Tea, lemonade, and punch. (TLLC has an ice machine)

Meals usually consist of 4 parts with one of each of the preceding items, but they do not have to.
Attendees:
- Volunteer teams should consist of at least six group members
- Youth volunteers are welcome to help as long as accompanied by parents or guardians
- Teams should expect to feed an average of 100-120 people
The Average cost of this meal is reported to be $200-$300.

Schedule:
- Volunteer Teams can arrive as early as needed to properly prepare the meal on the day of service.
- If the meal will be prepared in the TLLC kitchen, then we suggest arriving around 3:30 to
begin preparing the meal.
- If the meal will be prepared off-site then allow your team enough time to set-up (i.e., wipe
down tables, place chairs at tables, prepare drinks and ice cups, and set up meal for
distribution).
- Life Skill Classes begin at 6:30, so clean-up may begin as early as 6:15pm. In order to ensure that
all families receive a meal, we ask that seconds not be served until 6:10 p.m.
What to bring:
- Cooking Ware
- Dish Soap (for your use only) and Cleaning sponge (optional)
- Any serving utensils necessary

Optional Supplies (SAMMinistries has these items, but we would appreciate any donations):
- Disposable plates and cups
- Plastic Ware
- Napkins

In order to volunteer for this opportunity, you must become a part of the SAMMinistries volunteer program. To be a part of this program you have to fill out an application, attend an orientation, pass a background check, and then will receive details about signing up for a volunteer shift.
