Help the Hunger Task Force Farm get ready for a new season!

Each year, The Farm grows half a million pounds of fresh produce and delivers it to local pantries, meal sites and senior centers creating access for those facing hunger.

The Farm’s Nutrition Education program teaches healthy-eating habits to 250+ low-income students each week on The Farm. Students learn to garden and cook using fresh produce right from the school garden.

In addition, The Farm is home to 100+ acres of natural areas, which includes a 43-acre endangered Oak Savanna, wetlands, and prairie.

In the spring, there is much to do! Help us:
• Natural areas restoration: wood chipping trails, clearing invasive brush and plants
• Cleaning & organizing the Nutrition Education kitchen
• Cleaning, raking and wood chipping the School Garden
• Weeding spinach/shaping garden beds in the Hoop Houses (dependent on spinach harvest timing)

This is our organizations 5th time hosting this event. Upcycle Boutique is a clothing swap where we turn the Weirs Buick GMC showroom in Arundel into a shop/boutique for women and teen girls to come and shop! We would love to have more help with setting up our boutique - getting all clothing organized prior to participant arrival. Stacking/folding/hanging/moving racks and then cleaning up clothes that are not taken after the event to be distributed to local shelter programs.

Opportunity Details

Run the Reagan® is an annual community event featuring a marathon, 5k and 10k race down Ronald Reagan Parkway. In addition, the event features a 1k fun run. This is a fundraising event for local 501(c)(3) organizations that provide much needed services to residents of our community. Proceeds from the 2019 road race will be donated to the The Brookwood Schools Foundation, The Lilburn Cooperative Ministry and The Southeast Gwinnett Coopertative Ministry.

North Hills Community Outreach is a nonprofit organizing serving the North Hills of Pittsburgh operating over 20 programs. Our mission is to help our neighbors in crisis hardship, and poverty with the vision that no one is cold, hungry, or alone.

One of our biggest fundraisers is the Citrus Sale which benefits our three food pantries. We take advance orders by the case, and supporters can order for themselves and/or donate cases of fruit to the food pantries. A semi delivers hundreds of cases of delicious fruit from a grove in Florida and volunteers help unload, organize, deliver and distribute it. We need volunteers on Saturday, March 2, from 8:30 to 11:30 to help inspect and sort the fruit and then organize the boxes for distribution.

Come together with others to package nutritious meals that feed hungry people here in Iowa, throughout the U.S., and around the world. This is a fun, upbeat, energetic, community building event that is great for individuals, families and groups. Meals go towards children's feeding initiatives and disaster relief efforts. We have packaging shifts Tuesday through Saturday at our Packaging Center in West Des Moines. Children age 8 and older are welcome to attend with an adult. I am emailing on behalf of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to volunteers for the annual Soup and a Bowl on Monday February 11, 2019 at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg in Camp Hill. This event will combine the artistic talents of local potters with a luncheon of warm soup, breads, and desserts, all benefitting the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Last year, our sponsorships and In-Kind donations were a huge part of the part the event that served over 600 guests and raised the funds to support our mission of Fighting hunger, improving lives, strengthening communities. The proceeds from this event enables the Food Bank to distribute nearly 55 million pounds of healthy, fresh and nutritious food, including over 10 million pounds of fresh produce throughout our network nearly 1,000 partner agencies. Feed My People is in need of a team to repack food items that will go into our Weekend Kids' Meal bags. We receive product such as pasta and cereal in giant totes that needs to be repacked into kid sizes. We will include these items in the 2000 bags that we distribute to low income children and youth every week to support them on weekends when there are no school meals. Thank you!
