We have volunteer shifts and projects for all ages, 6 days a week, Mon - Sat. The best way to view and sign up for shifts is by going to: http://www.oregonfoodbank.org/Volunteer

To increase your impact, when a group of at least 5 Kohl's associates volunteers together for a minimum of three consecutive hours, Kohl's will give a $500 volunteer reward to Oregon Food Bank (for every 5 associates that volunteer for each event).

Thank you in advance to Kohl's employees for supporting hunger relief in Oregon and SW Washington.

Use your corporate power for community good! Time is a gift to hungry kids, seniors and others who may not have enough to eat. When you volunteer at the Food Bank, you are doing more than fighting hunger – you are making our community, stronger one meal at a time.

There are a variety of ways you can help at the Houston Food Bank while having fun, team building or making it a competition:

o Sort, inspect and repackage food
o Fill Backpack Buddy bags with food for children at participating schools
o Pack hot and cold meals for kids participating in our Kids Café program
o Lend a helping hand at special on and off-site events
o And much more…

To schedule a volunteer shift, please visit www.houstonfoodbank.org/volunteer or call 832-369-9223.

APEB hosts a monthly Client Appreciation Day where agency clients and community members are able to access free groceries and clothing, a life skills support group, and free haircuts. Volunteers assist staff with unloading supplies from the Alameda County Food Bank and setting up the monthly food pantry; arranging available clothing; assisting clients with "shopping" for food and clothes; carrying groceries to client vehicles; and breaking down the food pantry and clothing display areas at the end of the day. (These monthly events are timed to support clients receiving housing case management and other people living with HIV, and to supplement Safeway gift cards provided to clients enrolled in the AIDS Medi-Cal Waiver Program at the beginning of each month.)

SFUA is looking for volunteers to help glean green beans at a farm in Pomona.
What is gleaning you ask?
Gleaning is the practice of harvesting produce from a commercial farm after the farmers have made a pass through and picked all of the high quality produce that grocery stores expect. It becomes economically unviable for farmers to make a 2nd or 3rd pass so they allow gleaners onto their fields to harvest the remaining crop.

The produce will be donated to local food banks and food pantries to feed hungry people this holiday season.

This is an amazing opportunity to give back this Holiday season to those less fortunate than us.

As a bonus, volunteers may take home with them a small amount of beans to share with their friends and family.

I have a flyer available to post at your place of work, club, or community if you feel moved by our mission to reduce food waste and would like to help increase our reach.

Volunteer activity starts at 9am and volunteers may stay for as long as they would like!
We recommend volunteers wear hiking boots or work boots, but any closed-toed shoe would be fine.

Bring water, snacks, and sun protection. Volunteers may bring a pair of gloves if they would like but they are not necessary. Gloves will be provided for those who would like to borrow a pair.

Volunteers will need to sign a liability waiver on-site.
