Goal of Position: We serve a diverse client base, and hear many languages at the Food Bank. We are seeking bi-lingual or multi-lingual Interpreters to help us connect with our guests during our monthly Community Meals event. From time-to-time, we also need to update or create documents in different languages in order to share information with our clients. The Volunteer will interpret between food guests and staff during the event. We also encourage the volunteer to establish relationships with our guests! Meal is included with volunteer shift. **Counts towards Community Service**

Time Required:
Hours: 12:00pm-1:00pm; 1 hour
Length of Commitment: Minimum 2 times
Positions Available: 4-5
Position Availability: July 13th , August 10th , September 14th , October 12th , November 9th , December 14th

Responsibilities:
Aid in welcoming our guests to Community Meals
Act as liaison between our guests and staff during Community Meals
Interpret for guests and staff in a professional and respectful manner
Answer questions, promote community/health/nutrition resources
Educate guests about volunteer & intern opportunities
Commitment to policies & procedures signed
Skills Needed:
Bi-lingual in any; Chinese (preferably Cantonese),Taishanese, Vietnamese, Ukrainian, Russian, Somali, Tagalog.
Punctual, dependable, enthusiastic, flexible and positive attitude
Outgoing and enjoys working with people and helping clients
Must be able to work in both calm and fast-paced environments
Comfortable with diverse populations in high energy settings
Have a neat appearance and a friendly demeanor
Love of food and interest in community development and social justice

Description:
Data Entry Support volunteers enter in-kind donations, volunteer applications & hours into Salesforce or MS Excel. This is a great opportunity to gain experience with non-profit fundraising sources, volunteer program systems & databases. Because of training time necessary for this position, you must commit a minimum of4 months, at least 2 hours a week. Great position for “type A”, detail oriented individuals.

Skills Needed:
In depth knowledge, use & navigation of Microsoft Excel
High attention to detail
High level of dependability and follow-through
“Keyboard-zen” oriented
Previous Salesforce or Nonprofit database experience a plus!

Training Provided:
Training will be provided of our systems and processes with excel and Salesforce.

Volunteers will interact with clients, staff and other volunteers and will provide excellent customer service to ensure great relationships and a positive atmosphere during distributions.

Time Required:
Hours: Wednesdays 7:15am - 10:15am, 8am - 11am, 11am - 2:30pm
Saturdays 8am - 11am and 11am - 2:30pm
Length of Commitment: Minimum 3 hour shift preferred

· Sign in and out for each shift
· Once assigned a station, stick to your station until relieved

Goal of the position: Number distributor volunteers will be the first friendly face to interact with guests receiving food before they enter our facility. Number Distributor volunteers ensure that guest receive the correct number and color corresponding to general public and disabled individuals. Volunteers will provide excellent customer service to ensure great relationships and a positive atmosphere during distributions.

Time Required:
Hours: 5 hours, Wednesday & Saturday 9am-2pm, minimum 1 x a month
Commitment Length: 3 shifts within 3 month period preferred for effective training.
Main steps:
White numbers for general population
Green numbers for disabled population (These cards will have a hand-shaped hole punch.)
Greet guests, answer questions.
Key points:
Maintain excellent customer service
Remain on sidewalk to avoid congestion of front door
If you recognize someone trying to get a number that already received one politely decline to give him/her another one

Reasons why:
We are distributing the numbers in this way in an attempt to be as fair as possible to our hungry guests waiting for food.
