Be a part of the solution to food waste and hunger relief by volunteering with BAGEL RESCUE! When you rescue and deliver bagels, you are keeping good food out of landfills, and instead filling bellies.

Bagel routes include a "rescue" from a local bakery followed by a delivery to a feeding program. Routes generally take less than one hour but are on a set schedule - same day and time each week. This is a weekly volunteer commitment for an individual or teams.

This volunteer activity supports the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, a federal program designed to address hunger among low-income seniors.

In this activity, volunteers will assemble and pack boxes of dry commodities on an assembly line, with some volunteers filling boxes and others stocking tables, in addition to other tasks as well.

The boxes are sent to program recipients once per month to supplement their own food purchases and ensure that they have nutritionally sound meals that will allow them to lead healthy, active lifestyles. There are currently 2,100 individuals registered for this program, with over 400 more on a waitlist to enter the program. Many of the recipients live on fixed incomes and experience the brunt of the rising cost of food.
