Mission Impastable at We Share HopeFriday, July 30th 2021 (9:00AM – 1:00PM)
We Share Hope
310 Bourne Avenue, Building 70
Rumford, RI 02916
Point of Contact -Wendy King, wking@wesharehope.org, 401-638-4673
We Share Hope has recently acquired a lot of pasta… And when we say ‘a lot’ of pasta, we mean A LOT. Kettle Cuisine in Lynn, Massachusetts, has generously donated 12 pallets of elbow macaroni. Each pallet contains one 1,200-pound bag of elbow macaroni. That is over 14,000 pounds of pasta! (Hence the name ‘mission impastable)
Pasta is a often a ‘go to’ for people facing food insecurity. This elbow pasta is incredibly versatile and perfect for American Chop Suey, Pasta Salad, or Macaroni and Cheese. Yum! To distribute these elbows out to our nonprofit partners, we need help!
Your mission, should you choose to accept it…
We Share Hope is calling on our corporate partners for some friendly competition. Corporate groups of 6 will go head-to-head to see who can bag the most 1-pound bags of pasta in a two hour time frame. The group that bags the most pasta will win an exclusive four course meal paired with margaritas and sangria at Lola’s Lounge and Cantina created by their Executive Chef and a pasta trophy created by a local youth arts group.
Benefits –
• Bond and reconnect with work team
• Donate to support We Share Hope (there is a $1,000 entrance fee per team)
• Help We Share Hope fight food insecurity in Rhode Island
• Light Breakfast and Lunch Served
• Company recognition in the annual report and seasonal newsletter (circulation of 1,500)
• Company recognition on the We Share Hope Facebook (5,000 followers)
• Winner will receive dinner at Lola’s Lounge and Cantina and a pasta trophy created by an arts group

'LOVE IN ACTION'Volunteers are vital to the success of Food to the Rescue. We are in need of volunteers to donate their time to assist in delivering the food to the children's homes as well as un-boxing, packing, and organizing the food boxes to go out for delivery.
Job Descriptions:
un-boxing- When we order bulk food, it comes in big boxes, and then smaller boxes. We need to get all that food out of those boxes so we can individually pack each snack.
packing family boxes- packing the food into boxes and taping them shut.
DELIVERY DRIVER- The MOST IMPORTANT JOB OF ALL! We currently serve around 600 kids. That is over 40 routes all over Putnam Co. Each route has 3-5 homes which you will receive the address to deliver the food directly to the children. (Background check required) We will give you an instruction card before we send you out, but basically you will sign in when you arrive, then you will be given food to load into your car and addresses. We ask that you call the home to let them know you are on your way, a simple "Hi, I'm a volunteer with Food to the Rescue, and I'm on my way to your home to deliver food to your child." The majority of our recipients have been on our program for a while and are used to having a volunteer deliver food to their home.
Please consider helping, not only us, but a child that otherwise may not have food during Summer Break. Most of the recipients are EXTREMELY thankful, and it'll brighten your day to see the excitement on the Childs face when they receive their food! You will need a current background check. (If you've had one in the last year by another organization, church, work, etc, Please let us know.) We will also need a copy of your DL, and auto insurance. (If you've not given it to us before and there are no changes in your info) Time from signing in, loading car and delivering food may take an hour to hour and half. MUST BE 18yrs+ to Drive. ALL AGES WELCOME TO RIDE ALONG!

Hey all you Hunger Heroes!! There are 821 Million people that go to bed hungry every night. 84,000 in just the NE Indiana area alone. Are you ready to do something about it in a fun, family-friendly and impactful way that only takes 2 hours of your time!! Are you in?!? Let’s do this!!We'll be set up for social distancing and, while face masks are not mandatory, we do recommend them.
While we do not charge a fee to be involved in our Public Packing events, we appreciate donations to further our work to end world hunger. Ideally, we’d like each person or family to cover the cost of one carton of meals.
Just one carton of meals that you will pack feeds 216 children and costs just $60. That’s a mere $.27 per meal! What can we do without once or twice that will equal 216 meals? How many boxes would you like to donate?
We are looking forward to seeing you and partnering with you to feed the hungry!!

Background of Made in Hackney and the community meal service
Made In Hackney opened its doors in 2012 as the UK’s first fully vegan community cookery school and charity. We collaborate with communities to showcase and develop skills, knowledge and inspiration to grow, cook and eat more plants.
The kitchen started as a response to global and local crisis – health inequalities, food access and climate change. These interconnected issues drive our mission to bring about positive change in the areas of community, health and environment with delicious, culturally varied, nutritious plant-based food at the centre of all we do.
During the pandemic, we delivered about 1,500 meals per week.
The Community Made service currently cooks and delivers about 400 meals per week to households struggling with food access, and to food banks.
