A team of volunteers assist the Meal Centre Supervisor in preparing a hot lunch for our clients every day of the year. Volunteers are introduced to a number of tasks, including meal preparation, sorting and bagging produce and bread products, serving meals and coffee, and cleanup. This is a fast paced environment where you will be working together with a number of other volunteers.

Requirements: Standing for long periods, some lifting, ability to follow directions, ability to work well with others, flexibility, criminal record check, 16 years or older

Shifts available: Monday through Saturday, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm, Sunday 8:00 am – 12:00 noon

Opportunity Details

We are currently looking for individuals to help in Freshplace, our onsite fresh food pantry, which provides nutritious food and case management services to individuals and families living in the poorest neighborhoods in Hartford. We are looking for individuals to fill the gap until our regular volunteers who are in high risk categories can return.

Volunteers must be 18 or older, able to lift at least 30 pounds and fully vaccinated.

Responsibilities include: Unloading and sorting donated food, organizing pantry shelves and assisting Freshplace clients with shopping.

Where: Freshplace, Chrysalis Center, 255 Homestead Ave, Hartford.

When: Tuesdays and/or Thursday - 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (or earlier)
We can accommodate one time, weekly, or monthly volunteer opportunities.

Chrysalis Center is a private, non-profit, socially innovative, multiservice organization that serves individuals and their families living in the State of Connecticut. Chrysalis Center helps those living in poverty, Veterans, men, women, children, and young adults who are struggling with mental health, addiction, HIV/AIDS, homelessness, and those returning from incarceration.

Opportunity Details

Each year we hand out hundreds of Backpacks stuffed with school supplies to children in need. Many of those families pick them out at our annual Back to School Bash. Volunteers will get there hands on and face time with our clients handing out Book bags and school supplies to low-income children. You will also get to distribute groceries to their families so we know they are going back to school with full tummies and the tools they need to succeed. As part of the event we will be providing lunch to the families as well. Please contact us at info@bridgetohope.net if you would like to help provide school supplies for the kids. Opportunity Details

The ACRS Food Bank is open to the public and operating out of our Chinatown location. Packages of food are being prepped for the week and loaded into trucks for delivery. In-person distribution is safely being implemented on Fridays. Help the most revisited food bank in King County service culturally familiar food to those in need.

**Tasks Include:**

- Prepping grocery bags for delivery
- Assembling and packaging food
- Loading and unloading food into delivery vehicles
- Supporting with organization and light cleaning within the facility
- (Fridays) Handing out food to clients

**Position Hours:**

- Tuesday - Friday from 9am - 12/1pm
