Our foodbank has delivered over 250,000 pounds of food since our new foodbank was opened (reopened) on March of 2020.We need lots of volunteer help to keep our shelves stocked for our clients and to store and manage the food and other products when they are delivered twice monthly. We Have a brigade of about 20 volunteers, the most wonderful ladies and a couple of great men, most in their 70's and 80's. We couldn't do it all without them. They also have a wonderful time as it is a nice social gathering for them two days weekly where they work hard and enjoy being useful to our community. We will be looking for a new director by July 2023 as the current director will be moving out of state at that time.

Each month we rely on the generous support of over 80 volunteers to help us sort rescued food, pack the food into our weekly delivered food boxes for 120+ food insecure households, and run our weekly Rescued Food Market which serves 160+ households.

Suitable for groups of 6-10 people.You will cook over 100 puddings for our community meal service which provides 400 meals a week to those struggling with food access. Our team and kitchen can not normally include puddings due to capacity and space issues, but it is a wonderful addition when we have extra volunteers.
We then encourage you to sign up to help deliver the meals to people around Hackney with us. This is a vital part of our weekly service. We have space for 2 people to do a walking route as well as cyclists.
The timetable for the day would be:
9.30am - All arrive at Liberty Hall, E5 9AA.
10am-2pm - Cook and prepare over 100 puddings with one of our chefs. Ensure kitchen is clean afterwards.
Lunch break - around 12 pm or 1 pm, depending on cooking schedule
Within 5 minutes walk, there is a cafe by the river, or another cafe in the park for a team lunch.

CYCLE COURIER - as follow up volunteer opportunity
The purpose is to deliver community meals direct to door on Mondays or Wednesdays from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm. This can be arranged later with the volunteer manager.
You will need your own bicycle, a smartphone for delivery routes, and WhatsApp.

Every month India House hosts a Free Food Distribution that provides fresh produce, vegetables, canned goods, and more to 400 families. This program is executed largely by volunteers with a compassionate heart like you! Unloading the Houston Food Bank mobile units, arranging on tables, placing items in a grocery cart, and loading into a car are the main duties. We offer free refreshments for our volunteers! Come at least four times, receive an India House shirt!Free Food Distribution is the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. Volunteers are welcomed at 8:30 am - 11:30 am.

The Centro Mercado, our free food market, is open to anyone in the community—no requirements, no appointment needed. The Mercado is located across the street from Centro Cultural at 1216 East Baseline Street and open 6 days a week thanks to volunteer support.Volunteers help with organizing food supplies, stocking pantry shelves, and possibly some cleanup.

Investment Process
Volunteers for the investment process form teams that review proposals from the programs that apply for MUW funds. Additionally, teams visit the programs they review to have in-depth discussions about collaboration, budgets, metrics, strengths, opportunities, and results.
Through this intensive review process, Investment Team volunteers produce funding recommendations that inform MUW’s investments in local nonprofit programs and initiatives.

Volunteer with us to support Walk for Rice on Saturday, June 29th at Seward Park.WHAT: ACRS' seeks volunteers to work with us to carry out our 2025Walk for Rice. Volunteer roles range from event set-up, registration, guest coordination and more.
WHEN: Saturday, June 28. Volunteer roles will likely take place between 7 A.M. - and 2:00 P.M. There are some roles that take place before the event.
WHERE: Volunteering will take place at Seward Park unless noted otherwise.

York Region Food Network is a non-profit organization that works on food security and food policy initiatives. Many of our community programs happen at our office location in Aurora. These programs include: drop-in breakfasts, Good Food Box pickups, and cooking/gardening workshops. Our office space has been in desperate need of a re-paint in order to brighten the space for our community members and program participants! We are looking for an enthusiastic group of volunteers to help move some furniture (~30 lbs of lifting), wipe down baseboards, tape edges and most importantly, re-paint the walls! We will be providing a light lunch for volunteers. We ask volunteers to wear clothes that they wouldn't mind getting paint on, just in case! We have washrooms where you can change clothes if needed.Budget request: funding is needed for drop-cloths, painters tape, paint brushes and paint adding up to approximately $300.
