Details: These are the most important days where we need as much help as possible! When you arrive go to the Clock on South side of Plaza. On the attached map shows it as Santa. There will be a table there with different tasks you can choose from. Some will have photos to help . All skill sets can help and will receive a volunteer sweatshirt or t-shirt. Some areas require tools such as cordless drills, bits, ladder and gloves. They are marked with *
Tasks to choose from: Hang Garland or lights on fences and rails
Put batteries in lights
Put up banners and signs
Set up different small or large displays with decorations, inflatables , trees, snow blankets , etc
Screw in 4'x8' flats as shown in the Santa photos. These types are used as back drops for about 10 different displays*
Put up giant TeePee and decorate *
Build and set up live Nativity scenes barn *
During Event : Thursday Dec 5th and Friday Dec 6th: 4pm-6pm or 7:30-9pm
Saturday Dec 7th: 11am-12:30 or 3pm-5pm or 7pm-9pm
Details: In addition to the below we can always use help monitoring lights and inflatables, giving breaks to vendors. checking garbage isn't getting too full and picking up any trash laying around.
Tasks to Choose from: Train Conductor - Must be safe over 16 and personable with guests. We do have a microphone we would like the train conductor
to use for announcing some displays or vendors as they drive past. A basic script and hat will be provided.
Train Attendees- We need 2-3 people to help open and close doors from all passengers on the train.
Tear Down: Sunday December 8th Anytime between 9am-5pm. We need about 50 people.
Details: Well, what goes up must come down! Pizza party to follow!
Needs: We can always use storage totes or tree bags! Any size!

Salt of the Earth has a long standing relationship working in partnership with BECU during their bi-annual shred event in Everett, WA for the last 10 years. BECU provides free document shredding and invited us to be their supported non-profit to collect non-perishable food and monetary donations during the event. This is one of our largest fundraisers of the year and we need a team of 12-15 people to collect/sort donated food, solicit donations and help with traffic during the event.Available Shifts

The Lake Merritt United Methodist Church Food Pantry, in partnership with the Alameda County Community Food Bank, has been serving the Oakland Community for over 30 years by providing free food to individuals and families in need. Currently, food is shared through a client-choice distribution model where folks can select food instead of pre-filled bags. The Food Pantry provides nutritious shelf stable foods and fresh fruits and vegetables. Last year, we distributed 130,000 pounds of food, including 85,000 pounds of fresh produce to over 15,000 people throughout the year.Available Shifts

Duties/Responsibilities: Driving volunteer opportunities consist of picking up and delivery food to one, or multiple partner sites.Growing The Table: Volunteers will pick up boxes from FEED Sonoma in Petaluma, and deliver them to our partner sites. You will be delivering between 20-80 boxes, depending on the size of your car.
Additional Information: Volunteers will use their own vehicle. If you have any questions day-of, you can contact the Farm to Pantry team for support.

Duties and Responsibilities: Volunteer Gleaners help us harvest produce from a property in Sonoma County. A gleaning shift consists of spending up to 3 hours outside, harvesting produce. Farm to Pantry will provide tools and supplies.Additional Information: No prior experience or knowledge is necessary! Our staff or glean leader will provide tools and all the information you'll need to harvest. Please wear closed-toe shoes, bring layers, water, and sun protection. Volunteers are able to take home some produce for themselves, so be sure to bring a bag for your bounty!

We are seeking volunteers to assist us at registration, water station, and for crosswalk management as there are two areas where the running trail crosses a paved parking lot. Your assistance is greatly needed to ensure safety of our runners and walkers during their race.
