Village Family is in need of volunteers to help in our Community Garden. It will include physical work, woodwork, some heavy lifting, mainly cleanup and weeding, watering and planting. Saturday October 23rd 9:30am - 1:30pmand

You will support our weekly food delivery provisions, every Sunday from 4 - 5:15pm.Donations from Coop, Tesco, Higgidy and Fareshare and allocated into individual parcels to support local young people and their families. On average we support 10 families every week.

The Food Truck Cup is an outdoor festival that not only showcases food trucks, but local craft beverages and live music too. It is our big annual fundraiser, which directly supports the important hunger relief work we do all year round. We weren't able to do it last year, so we're very excited for its return this year!We are specifically seeking volunteers that can help with site set up and/or take down. All volunteers will be given general admission access to the event.

Opportunity Details
Volunteers help pack several hundred boxes for senior citizens (age 60 and over) in our community, at our warehouse. Each supplemental box is designed to meet the nutritional needs of those in need. It features items such as beans, sauce, pasta, and canned fruits and vegetables.The boxes are put on a roller belt and moved from volunteer to volunteer. Each volunteer places their food item in the box and passes it on. The boxes are quality checked at the end of the line and put on a pallet. Able-bodied volunteers also help with the replenishment of food for those filling the boxes. Boxes are broken down and recycled. There is some clean-up after all of the boxes are packed.

We might can’t supply you for the whole month, but it’s enough to stretch for one week or until you get paid. We just need your help, to help us, help the people get fed. This virtual opportunity is a great way to ensure low-income children receive snacks each week through their connection with the Lorton Community Action Center. LCAC registers families who are in need of food assistance in southeastern Fairfax County. Households provide verification of income, address and household family members. Once registered, they may receive food weekly, which consists of protein (usually chicken or fish), fresh produce and bread along with snack packs if they have children.Snack packs contain 4 individual wrapped snack items (granola bars, goldfish, etc.) and either a 100% juice box or small shelf stable milk. All 5 items are stored in a quart size ziploc for easy transport.
This is a great opportunity to work together as a team and have an impact on children in our community.
LCAC needs 600 snack packs each week.
