Malvern Urban Farm is a 2 acre farm in the Finch hydro corridor. Our main goals are to increase the availability of fresh, culturally relevant food in the Malvern community and to provide income generating opportunities for residetns as farmers in the space. We run a weekly farmers' market to support both of these goals on Wednesdays, and on Tuesday mornings, 9am-12pm, we have a lot of work to do! You might be harvesting, weeding, turning compost, or something else, but everything helps us reach our goals!Budget request (not required): $500 would help us purchase a new weed trimmer and lawn mower to improve our farm maintenance! These tools would help make the farm more accessible and easier to walk through, and free up staff time for other tasks.

Our team volunteer days are incredible opportunities for your company to engage with the community, support the mission of the food bank and connect with one another!During a Team Day, a group of 5-10 people will assist us in managing and preparing for our service days by receiving donations, organizing the warehouse, bagging food, sorting items, and setting up our grocery area. This role is perfect for those looking to make a tangible difference in their community.
Budget Request
Leading up to your volunteer day, we ask that your team support the food bank by making a contribution to our essential work in Parkdale. This can look like:
1) Your team can coordinate a food drive! Coordinate a food drive at your office - we will provide you with a list of the food bank’s most needed items and the resources you need to get started. Then, bring the food donations with you on your volunteer day. (Suggested donation: $700 value in food)
2) We can generate a custom fundraising page for your team! Use this page to fundraise for the food bank leading up to your volunteer day. We can customize your page with all of your company’s branding, photos, colours etc. (Suggested fundraising goal: $700)
3) We can invoice your company for a contribution to the Parkdale Community Food Bank. (Suggested donation: $700)
The suggested donation helps support our mission and essential work. Right now, the need is greater than ever. We provide food, free of barriers, to over 8,000 families every month. This support allows us to continue to support community members who are food insecure and need barrier-free access to high-quality, nutritious food with dignity and respect.

We are a small NPO and we fill the blessing boxes around the area and provide monthly meals. In the past we''ve given away fried chicken, beef empanadas and chicken sandwiches, when we have the fund and when we don't bananas and a protein shake, yogurt and applesauce or protein bar, those kinds of things. I've never worked with others on food prep or distribution before, so I'd need help with the planning phase as well.Photo is of the ground beef for the beef empanada. We show some videos on tiktok, but need help with social media so, we don't have a lot of images up.
