Program Overview Amrita-Seattle’s Healthy Hot Meal Program partners with ROOTS Shelter and Teen Feed to support at-risk, unsheltered youth and young adults in meeting their basic needs while building strong, supportive connections to help them transition off the streets. Our mission is to respond to one of the most essential needs of homeless and at-risk youth: access to healthy, hot meals.

Sign up for your MEAL DATE: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040c45a9a62babff2-volunteer#/

IT'S MORE THAN A MEAL:
Amrita-Seattle’s Healthy Hot Meal Program provides a hot, nutritious meal at University District meal sites for TEEN FEED and ROOTS. While enjoying these meals, young people connect with trained advocates and support staff from our partner organizations, gaining access to critical resources and services.

Since COVID-19, Amrita-Seattle has served over 1,500 unsheltered youth and young adults, earning the COVID Hero Award in recognition of our efforts. We’re grateful to continue serving our community in this time of great need.

How You Can Help
Join us in our spirit of “live to serve” as a volunteer for our meal program! As part of our dedicated meal team, you’ll participate in every step of the process for preparing a meal for approximately 70 people. Volunteers are involved in:

Fundraising for meal sponsorship
Crafting the menu
Grocery shopping and food preparation
Cooking, serving, and post-meal cleanup

This unique, hands-on volunteer experience allows you to make a direct and meaningful impact in the lives of young people facing difficult challenges. It’s a rewarding opportunity to give back to the community and connect with others in the spirit of service. Join us, and let’s make a difference together!

We need all hands on deck as we adjust our food distribution efforts to meet complex and evolving public health needs. Volunteers are needed at our facilities in NE Portland and Beaverton, offsite food distributions, and partner agencies in the Metro Portland area.

We have retooled our operation to account for social distancing to the extent possible — so if you don’t face higher risks for coronavirus, please sign up for an individual volunteer shift using the link to Oregon Food Bank's volunteering webpage below. If volunteer shifts are unavailable please check back soon. We will be updating shifts as they come available.

In the wake of COVID-19, we’ve postponed all large-group gatherings, including volunteer shifts of more than 10 people. We also encourage people who are 60+ years of age, or who have underlying health conditions or risk factors, to choose other ways to contribute during this crisis.

Thank you to Moda Health employees for helping us #EmergeStronger!
