Inter-Faith Food Shuttle envisions a hunger free community. We FEED our neighbors, TEACH self-sufficiency, GROW healthy foods, and CULTIVATE innovative approaches to end hunger. We do this by engaging communities facing hunger to understand their unique needs and barriers. Our fourth pillar CULTIVATE, is the beginning of a movement where the Food Shuttle is tackling the root causes of hunger. We are seeing that it takes more than putting food on the table to solve hunger. We are asking tough questions like WHY are people hungry and preparing to listen. It is also about utilizing data and evaluating and measuring the impact of our programs in non-traditional ways. It is also about identifying the neighbors that should be around the table making the decisions about the programs impacting their neighborhoods and communities.

For our GROW initiatives, the Food Shuttle grows fresh produce at our 14-acre Farm in Raleigh and our Learning Gardens in Raleigh and Durham to distribute to our neighbors in need. Our learning gardens are also a place where community gardeners can grow their own produce and be a part of a community where mentorship and learning are cornerstones. Recently launched, our Gardens for Everyone project builds garden boxes at the homes of our neighbors or in partnership with nonprofits serving those at risk of hunger. Last fiscal year, the Food Shuttle and its volunteers built 110 garden boxes through this new project.

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle envisions a hunger free community. We FEED our neighbors, TEACH self-sufficiency, GROW healthy foods, and CULTIVATE innovative approaches to end hunger. Within our TEACH initiatives, we are dedicated to teaching skills for self-sufficiency and empowering our neighbors to meet their own food needs. This includes agriculture education bringing gardening, cooking, and nutrition education to children and adults. Within our Community Health Education, the Food Shuttle implements a national program called Cooking Matters to bring education opportunities for our neighbors. This includes topics like how to read food labels, how to get the most nutrition out of a limited budget, and even how to cook and prepare healthy, affordable meals.

Community Made cooking is to ease food access needs for participants and local food banks. Volunteers and participants cook 200 food portions together for the wider community that also includes the participants to take home for the week. The rest of the meals will be delivered to local community food banks, families needing more food access and support, and members who are not physically mobile.

The format is not like a teaching class where the head chef teaches a class. You will still learn, 'on the fly' when the chef assigns a responsibility. The whole kitchen team will be supportive to learn and develop together, while not in a teaching class mode. You will learn new skills to cook for more people.
Depending on timings , there will be a brief break for lunch and rest together, at the discretion of the head chef.

Key Tasks
• Help teacher to setup the kitchen for community cooking participants.
• Assist with washing and chopping vegetables and preparing meals with participants.
• Assist with washing up and cleaning kitchen.

UCESCO is looking for yoga instructors who want to volunteer in Kenya to teach our locals, empower them to be and feel part of the community, and create a safe environment to build their life again. This is done by strengthening women's self-confidence by highlighting their skills and competencies and supporting them in acquiring new ones.
Through this project, the women can prepare for their future by finding and believing in their resources. The project's activities also support women in finding relationships and building healthy communities.

This opportunity will help the women to be aware of not only their mental well-being but also their physical state. We are approaching this by conducting Yoga classes as a group in class & homestays.
