At our Brooklyn Park Facility, volunteers assist with sorting, labeling, weighing and packing various food items to meet immediate needs and help feed our hungry neighbors! The projects vary from day to day and volunteers regularly work with fresh produce, dry goods, bread, and various donations. Volunteer shifts are available in the morning and afternoon, Monday through Friday and every other Saturday at the Brooklyn Park facility. This volunteer position requires volunteers are able to twist and bend down, stand for the duration of their shift, and lift up to 5 pounds. Some positions require the ability to lift 40 pounds. This opportunity is open to youth ages 8-17 with chaperones.Volunteers have a great time meeting new people and getting into a rhythm with the daily task. We are installing a 3rd TFP in Wappingers. These pantries are accessible 24/7 and hold non perishable food items, toiletries men's and women's and baby needs. We will have a pay what you can lunch for anyone attending or whomever stops by. The pantries are meant to help with food securities 24/7, rather than just depending on a food pantry that serves meals. From these you can take what you need and leave what you can.Available Shifts

Help provide home bound seniors in the community a warm meal and a warm smile. Meals On Wheels’ success depends on our volunteer network of those who drive a route and deliver hundreds of meals daily to homebound seniors in Jefferson County specifically zip codes 40258, 40272, and 40177. Southwest Community Ministries values providing services in manner that maintains the individuals their personal dignity, fosters a spirit of community, encourages independence, and recognizes interdependence. By volunteering 2-3 hours of your time, you fulfill a basic need for food and make a difference in someone’s life.

Southwest Community Ministries relies on caring volunteers to help fulfill our mission to minister to the needs of our neighbors who find themselves in poverty and/or crisis. We are in desperate need for volunteers to pick up Dare to Care Food Barrels from 3 Kroger Locations for our Food Bank. These pickups are typically on Thursday’s and twice a month. These donations allow SWCM to help fight hunger for the community. It is requested that volunteers can lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

Frisbee Jamboree is a free community event; a collaborative between Educational Resources for Children and the Enfield Food Shelf to bring awareness and to ensure all Enfield children and families have the food they need to succeed in school.Opportunity Details
Feeding Hungry Children collaborates with a host site (Church, School or civic group) who provides between 20 and 40 volunteers and identify s people in the community who will come and select up to 60 lbs of produce that they will deliver to people they have identified who are in need. A semi load of 7 to 15 varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables is set up on tables where the community agents can select the produce they will distribute to people in need in their community.Available Shifts
