Family Literacy Day is a day dedicated to educate youth, to increase parent participation in youth education, and for families to engage through storytelling, workshops, and varied literary activities. Contra Costa has a large number of underprivileged youth and low math/reading percentiles compared to other part of CA overall. Calgary Meals on Wheels is looking for meal delivery volunteers! Make a difference in your community by helping our team deliver nutritious meals to over 850 grateful clients each day. Calgary Meals on Wheels delivers meals between 10:30am-1:00pm Monday – Friday, and we are looking for volunteers with the following availability:Regular Route – Pick a day of the week and frequency that works for you (weekly, monthly, etc.), and we’ll match you with an available route in your quadrant of the city. You’ll do the same route each time you volunteer and get to know the route and clients.
Flexible Spares (City-wide) – Can’t commit to a regular route? No worries! We need help covering gaps; sometimes planned, sometimes unexpected and last-minute. All available routes are posted online for you to choose the route and day(s) that suit your schedule.
Couriers (Downtown) – Join one of our staff drivers in a branded van to deliver meals to clients downtown. At each stop, you’ll take the meals into the building while the driver stays with the van. You can courier on a regular frequency (ex: weekly on Mondays) or fill-in as a spare based on your schedule.
Requirements:
• Availability 10:30am - 1:00pm, at least one day Monday - Friday
• Valid Alberta Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle (not required for Courier)
• Completed Vulnerable Sector Check, interview, references, and training.
• Commitment for a minimum once a month for 6 months
Since 1965, Calgary Meals on Wheels has never missed a day of scheduled delivery due to the dedication of our extraordinary volunteers. Each weekday, we depend on over 65 volunteers to help deliver to more than 60 routes in communities across our city. Our volunteers see first-hand the impact of how a nutritious meal and community connection can improve the health and well-being of others.

Volunteers are the driving force behind Habitat for Humanity; those who contribute their time and talents help keep the mission of Habitat in forward motion. We recognize that only with the help of volunteers will we be able to accomplish our vision - a world where everyone has a decent place to live.The construction side of Habitat works almost all year round, with the exception of the severe winter weather. We work on job sites Wednesday and Saturday (with some flexibility). We are currently recruiting volunteers for the remainder of the 2019 build season. Habitat offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities and we hope your organization might be interested in lending a helping hand. We are nearing completion of a duplex in Hagerstown and we recently broke ground on a single-family home in Smithsburg, your group’s contribution would bring us one step closer to providing decent affordable housing for families within our community.
Group Volunteer Opportunities - Group construction projects provide a wonderful opportunity for bonding and team enrichment. From corporate groups to groups of all faiths, to high school and college groups – we welcome all partners who are spurned by a passion to create decent and affordable housing for Washington County residents.
We can currently host groups of 8-10 people at any given time; however, special accommodations can be made for larger groups. I have attached some more information for you and your group on what to expect at a Habitat for Humanity build.
Should you decide your group would like to volunteer, HFHWC will provide water, snacks and lunch arrangements can be made for your group.
No experience is required! There will be a small orientation and new volunteers will receive direction from experienced volunteers, crew leaders and Habitat staff.

We are seeking the help of volunteers who will be stationed at post offices all around Tucson. We need help accepting and sorting the donations that the letter carriers bring in from their routes. Volunteers must be 16 years old unless accompanied by a parent. We also need a few drivers who can use their own vehicles to help pick up and deliver donations to some of the post offices. Come have fun and show support in YOUR neighborhood!Do you like to drive? If so, be a volunteer driver! Come volunteer driving along routes the carriers drive and help collect food. Our goal is to raise at least $7,000 for our youth programs. Harkins Theatre has partnered with YouthHope and offered to do a movie fundraiser to show their love and support for our youth that we serve. The funds raised at this event will go directly to our youth programs to help youth move off the streets and exit the street life successfully. 100% of all the proceeds benefit YouthHope. Volunteers are needed to help welcome and assists guest to their seats, help with registration and check in as well as sell and collect raffle tickets during the entirety of the event. Volunteers will be able to join us for the viewing of Toy Story 4. After the event ends we are asking for assistance with thanking guest for coming and the take down of the event.Available Shifts
