Night Strike is such a program; an urban humanitarian relief outreach, drawing over 150 volunteers every Thursday night (48 weeks on the year) underneath the Burnside Bridge along Naito Parkway in Portland. The nonprofit that runs the program has faithfully done so in the same location for nearly 15 years; serving a meal for 300+ each week, offering clothing, sleeping bags, haircuts, personal hygiene toiletries, a resource and veterans station, mobile medical and dental, and warmth and compassion.Over the years, several local corporations have partnered with us to have impact in our community; from restaurants like KoiFusion, Elephants Deli and Casa Colima, and retailers like NIKE and Columbia Sportswear, to local service providers Paul Mitchell and Goodwill Industries.
Our program calendar is available online, where you can register for a specific role or type of service, reserving your space well in advance. Go to: http://bit.ly/NS-SignUp
You can register your volunteer hours through this Benevity portal and expand your impact on our program and the work we do in Portland.
Night Strike operates each Thursday, beginning with an orientation at 6:55pm from our meeting spot at 214 W. Burnside. You will hear a brief orientation, and then be divided into your service groups to head out under the Burnside Bridge to show care and compassion to those living in the margins.
Questions about our program can be sent to: Info@bpmpdx.org or call (503)664-0653.
Questions about donations or group sponsorship of Night Strike: Luanne (503)708-9871.

On April 7, we will need help finishing the installation of the garden beds, mainly by filling them with soil. This is physical, manual labor activity, as we will be transporting about a dump-truck full of soil around Gloucester. However, in the end, you will have provided a raised bed full of heathy soil and nutrients that will help these families grow bountiful, fresh produce all season!
We will all meet at a designated garden site (TBD) and work in teams from there. Please wear clothes you can get dirty and clothed toes shoes. Please bring water and snacks, as we will be working hard!

Paint Your Heart Out Shreveport Plus” is an annual paint program administered by the City of Shreveport. The program is designed to provide painting and make minor exterior repairs to the homes of low-income elderly, and/or disabled citizens within the city limits of Shreveport. Every year, on one day, usually the third Saturday in May, as many as 50-75 homes receive a well deserved face-lift. In addition to paint and minor repairs, the homeowners receive smoke detectors and deadbolt locks free of charge. The concept for the program originally came from Tampa, Florida. Staff members from the Department of Urban Development visited Tampa during the culmination of their “Paint Your Heart Out Tampa” program, and were astounded at the possibility of Shreveport having such a program.Available Shifts
