Calvary Women’s Services offers housing, health, employment and education programs that empower homeless women in Washington, DC to change their lives. Our programs carry out our mission to offer "a safe, caring place for tonight; support, hope and change for tomorrow."We'd love to get you involved in empowering women!
Currently, we're looking for volunteers to facilitate classes through our educational services, known at Calvary as LEAP (Life skills, Education and Arts Programming). LEAP empowers women with the skills and basic knowledge needed in their transition out of homelessness.
LEAP facilitators are committed and enthusiastic instructors who lead 8-10 residents in weekly discussions. The class topics range greatly but are all included in a curriculum designed for resident's transition out of homelessness. Facilitators make a commitment to teach for one hour a week on weekday afternoons for eight weeks.

Opportunity Details
Rose Haven functions with a small staff that values and relies on volunteers on a daily basis. Our volunteers gain the privilege of serving, and being enriched by the incredible women and children who come to enjoy the community we create together.Although Rose Haven hospitality is devoted to women and children, we have many opportunities for men to volunteer.
DIRECT SERVICE ROLES:
- Kitchen: Prepare food for guests in our warming kitchen.
- Kitchen Runner: Run freshly made dishes and coffee to the dining area.
- Food Table: Serve food and beverages to our guests in the dining area.
- Supply Runner: Work with staff to gather requested supplies for guests.
- Clothing Shop: Assist guests with their bi-weekly 20 minute shopping visit.
- Wellness Desk: Assist with cleaning showers between uses, and providing hygiene supplies.
- Guest Services: Assist front desk staff with admin tasks, getting our mail & answering phones.
- Kids Activities: Support family afternoons by providing fun activities for children.
- Float: Help out wherever is needed: supply running, donation support, etc.
- Clinic: Provide basic first aid & medical advice when we do not have nursing students onsite.
- Computer Lab: Supervise technology space, set up laptops and assist with online forms, printing, and other guest technology needs.
ORGANIZATIONAL HELP
- Donation Support: Sorting donations, restocking the shop, etc.
- Donation Reception: Assist with receiving donations at our exclusive donation drop-off door, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-4:00 pm. Help carry donations in if needed, offer receipts and tours.
- Data Entry & Administrative Support: Help with admin tasks, and data entry projects.
- Development & Events Committee: Support our development team with event planning and fundraising. This is a great opportunity for folks who are looking for evening and weekend opportunities.
- In-Kind Donation Drive: Organize a donation drive in your community to collect underwear, leggings, or hygiene supplies… the possibilities are limitless!
*Male volunteers are limited to organizational help, kitchen, kitchen runner, and computer lab.

Once the application is completed, we will contact you about coming for an onsite orientation, which is generally held once a week. After orientation, you will need to complete a background check. Once that is clear, you will be ready to start volunteering in direct service roles.

In addition to individual volunteering opportunities, we also welcome corporate group volunteering. These opportunities involve non-guest facing tasks such as sorting and organization donations. They are scheduled for two hours on a Wednesday or Friday afternoon and we are usually booked out 1-3 months in advance. Please contact Dena at dbahar@rosehaven.org for more information.

Project WeHOPE is looking for individuals who can help write blog articles around the following topics: homelessness, charitable giving, affordable housing, fundraising for homeless, and volunteering to help homeless efforts. You will work closely with Project WeHOPE's Marketing Director, and may on occasion be asked to attend a related industry event and write a recap piece. The goal of the community blog writer is to help Project WeHOPE create quality content, and to help bring continual awareness about the systemic issues facing homelessness and what communities and individuals can do to help.Available Shifts

When you help the ReStore, you help your community. The purpose of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati’s ReStores is to help provide funding for our organization’s mission of helping to alleviate poverty housing in our area. The stores do this by selling donated new and used appliances, furniture, cabinets, building products and household items to the general public. While it is not the only source of funding for the organization, the profit from these stores has allowed us to help serve more families in the Greater Cincinnati area.The ReStore changes every day and tasks will vary depending on the day’s challenge. Volunteers will work with the ReStore Manager to prioritize tasks and choose assignments that match your skills and abilities

Hey Yal! Do you want to be a part of an amazing event, where you can gather community hours as well as develop a stronger connection with community partners in the Region of Toronto? Well this is a great event for you!Come out and Volunteer for Break Free Family Centre, Walk-A-Thon, Walk the Dream. It will commence on May 30 2015 from 10 AM - 5 PM. We are currently looking for volunteers to be a part of this event.
Volunteer Duties
Checkpoint Volunteer
Volunteers would be a different checkpoints along the walk and will hand out
refreshments to the walkers that pass by. After the walk, volunteers will be
asked to assist the dismantling of the checkpoints.
Floater
Volunteers would be asked to monitoring the main event and offer assistance
to walkers when necessary. Floaters will be asked to assist any other position
where support is needed.
Food Area Volunteer
Volunteers will assist in handing out snacks and food items to the waters when
they reach the final destination of the walk-a-thon. They will also assist in the clean-up of the food area.
Registration Volunteer
Volunteers would assist in the registration process prior to the start of the
walk-a-thon. They will be supported by the Volunteer Coordinator and will
assist in the sign-in of clients and give t-shirts to clients.
Set-Up/Tear Down Volunteer
Volunteers will assist the event organizers in setting up and tearing down site
equipments. Volunteer will help in the cleanup and taking down of different
site equipment, counting t-shirts and supplies.
