We are looking for a few individuals to volunteer at one of our buildings to provide grooming/hygienic services to our residents. We are looking specifically for hair dressers and people who do manicures and or pedicures, but are open to any other hygienic/personal care type services.

We would ideally love for someone to visit the building on a recurring basis, once a month for at least a 6 month time commitment, with opportunity to extend if interested.

As Thanksgiving approaches, we all look forward to getting together with family and friends to celebrate and give thanks for the bounty of our lives. Yet here at Weld, many of our members who have experienced incarceration are on the path to repairing those same relationships, which is why we need your help to make it great.

We invite all our talented cooks and food enthusiasts to contribute by preparing and bringing a Thanksgiving dish to share with everyone. For this volunteer opportunity we ask that you prepare and share your favorite Thanksgiving dish with members of our housing facilities and employment program. Volunteers contribute by selecting a category to cook a dish and then bring your dish to Weld Housing property at 1601 19th Ave, Seattle to help us create a sense of togetherness during the holiday season.

Help us feed the 21 families with sick children living in our House. Max of 10 volunteers. Meal groups pick the menu, purchase ingredients and cook in our fully stocked commercial kitchen. Volunteers are able to serve guests and package the leftovers individually. Dinner is served at 7pm each night, so most groups arrive at 5pm to start cooking. These dates fill up fast so reach out soon and we can work on booking. The number you will cook for is determined by our current census, typically we average 45 guests.

Nous avons besoin de votre aide pour le montage d'une vidéo de sensibilisation à la santé mentale, qui sera diffusée notamment sur nos comptes Facebook, Instagram et TikTok. Nous avons déjà les témoignages et tout le contenu nécessaire pour la réalisation de la vidéo. Nos objectifs consistent à éduquer, sensibiliser, informer et soutenir la communauté aux diverses problématiques liées à la santé mentale. Nous luttons solidairement contre les préjugés et la stigmatisation dont sont trop souvent victimes les personnes vivant avec une problématique de santé mentale. Le rétablissement passe nécessairement par la sensibilisation et l'accessibilité aux ressources.

Christian Family Services is hosting our 12th annual trivia night on Saturday night, November 11th, 2023 at 5 pm. We are raising money to support those clients in our care whether it is our adoption program, pregnancy support, foster care, transitional housing, or counseling. We never turn anyone away based on ability to pay. We have been around since 1973, so this is our 50th year of service! None of our social work programs make money. They lose money. We need your help and support. The more money we have, the more people we serve. Many have no one, be their someone.

Project Homeless Connect is a one-day, one stop shop resource fair for individuals and families experiencing housing instability to get access to all of the materials, supplies and resources they need under one roof.

We are looking for guest advocate volunteers who will assist individuals, connecting them with resources and services provided throughout the Marquette facility.

Volunteers will:

Interact one-on-one with guests throughout the day.
Guide guests to needed services and resources.
Help throughout the day, assisting with lunch, the health and hygiene room, the check in/check out processes, and other resource areas.

Make a holiday card for someone who has experienced or is experiencing homelessness to remind them that they are not forgotten!

Downtown Emergency Services Center (DESC) works to end homelessness for the most vulnerable and marginalized members of the Seattle and King County communities in Washington state through housing, behavioral and physical health, and crisis response services. For those that we serve, the holiday season can be especially tough. DESC works to ensure that no one is forgotten during the holidays by providing over 2500 gifts to DESC residents in our housing programs as well as clients receiving other services. Learn more about DESC, then create a holiday card (using online form for virtual sessions) for someone that DESC serves. These cards will be distributed with a holiday gift to DESC clients and residents!

This activity can be hosted in-person at a DESC location, we can come to you at your office/other space, or can be conducted virtually. Time frame is about 45min - 1hr for virtual session / 1 - 3 hrs for in-person session. For hosting at a DESC location, we can accomodate 10 - 20 volunteers / for hosting at your location we ask for a minimum of 10 volunteers and max is dependent on your space. Reach out to coordinate time, date, and location.
