Hosting a Corporate BBQ Lunch for St Mary’s House of Welcome’s service users is a great team-building exercise for your work group, and also a powerful, socially responsible immersion experience guaranteed to get you thinking about the way you view homelessness and the people it effects.

The day begins at 10:15am with a briefing and induction and then, under the guidance and direction of St Mary’s House of Welcome staff, you will prepare and serve a BBQ lunch for up to 150 members of the community. Then, after a quick clean up, you will have the chance to debrief, ask questions and reflect on what you have seen and heard throughout the day.
A contribution of $1,000 from your group will provide lunch for up to 150 people who are homeless, and help support the essential program work of St Mary’s House of Welcome.

Seeking the support of someone to plan, film and edit a short promotional video to summarise what our organisation does! As a starting point: we were thinking snippets of film to be captured at our centre with our staff and service users.

We would like to show this highlights video at our upcoming gala event to showcase what we do, how we help and engage guests to want to support the cause.

DESC receives donations of clothing and other supplies at our donation center located in the Columbia City area of Seattle that then need to be sorted and organized to ensure our DESC programs can access and provide essential resources to our DESC clients across our housing, shelter, and outreach programs. Groups are needed periodically to help with larger-scale sorting needs or with organizing these supplies and cleaning the donation center spaces to help accommodate future incoming donations. Because these goods are utilized by all programs at DESC, it is a great way for a group of 5 - 10 people to be able to make an impact across the entire organization with their time. Weekdays are preferred, and dates/times are flexible. Typically this activity is 2 - 3 hours in length, but the date, time, and shift length will be determined through correspondence with your team lead.

***all volunteers must 18 years or older in age and adhere to DESC's masking and other safety guidelines
