Help Jericho Project bring in the summer season by beautifying the backyard and front gardens at its Kingsbridge Terrace Veterans Residence!Jericho Project is a nationally-acclaimed nonprofit ending homelessness at its roots by enabling formerly homeless or at-risk individuals and families to lead independent lives. For over 32 years our supportive housing and comprehensive services advancing employment, wellness, and family stability, have enabled thousands of individuals to transform their lives for the better. Jericho now provides over 385 units of supportive housing at our seven residences in Harlem and The Bronx as well as life-changing services to over 2,000 vulnerable adults and children, including over 500 veterans.
Jericho's Kingsbridge Terrace Veterans Residence houses 76 formerly homeless men and women that have served in the United States military. So many of the people we serve experience trauma and other psychological distress due to their military backgrounds and experiences while being homeless. The garden areas serves as a peaceful, welcoming environment where residents may de-stress after a challenging day or simply take a minute to relax and take in some nature.
This project will give Viacom volunteers an opportunity to give back to those individuals that have given so much of themselves to serve our country. With your help, together we are making an immediate impact on the lives of the formerly homeless men and women veterans at Jericho Project who are working each day to maintain their sobriety, find cost-of-living employment, and reunite with their families.

A major component of our ministry is the Next Step of Hope mentoring program. The purpose of the program is to provide formerly homeless individuals who have made steps towards recovery with a team of mentors who can encourage and teach them to live successful lives. We are currently seeking to recruit individuals who may desire to be a friend to someone who was previously homeless. There are just a few quick things I want to point out about the Intentional friend program:
1. It is flexible to your schedule:
As a friend you would coordinate your meeting times with your client according to your own personal schedule. If you can’t always meet in person, it is fine to also meet over the phone.
2. You will be part of a team:
3. You don’t have to be a professional:
We’re not looking for professional counselors, just people who are willing to be a friend and share what they know.
4. We REALLY need you!
With 1500 clients in our data base and over 400 individuals already off the streets, the need for mentors in HUGE!

The holidays can be an especially difficult time for survivors of domestic violence who’ve been forced to leave behind their homes and belongings. So, each year we provide gifts for 125+ families in our programs via our Holiday Store program! In December, parents come to Raphael House and “shop” for free gifts for themselves and their children. This requires the help of hundreds of community members over several days.
Help us break down our holiday store and inventory the items we'll use to support survivors throughout the year to come. *Please note that this opportunity takes place at our confidential location, which is not the same as the mailing address listed here. The volunteer coordinator will call you to disclose this location to you approximately one week before the event. All new volunteers must sign a confidentiality agreement upon arrival. Thank you for your understanding and support!
