Sheila and Nabor De Cuevas purchased their home in October right after having a baby! Now they are tackling a rehab project and Sheila has joined Acts Housing as an Office Coordinator. They love their new home and Sheila is excited to help other families become homeowners!

Work needed:
The De Cuevas home has old linoleum flooring that needs to be scraped off and walls that need to be prepped for painting. The home is not heated so volunteers should wear layers and gloves.

Thank you for all that you do!

The purpose of this activity is to raise money for Helping Hands Resources to be able to buy items, such as blankets, tents, boots and hygiene items to be given away to individuals in need. The event is a Tea/Luncheon with formal settings (looks much like a wedding reception) with raffle prizes, silent auction as well as large donated oral auction items.
We need help especially with the take down of this event. However, volunteers may also wish to help with set up beforehand starting at 10AM. Volunteers who sign up to help take down starting at 2PM may be invited to to event if they RSVP for space. The event is always a lot of fun, and there are great things to bid on to win. This event adds so much to the budget of our total volunteer organization, by way of boosting buying power for much needed items that we give out to those in need during the year.

Join us on Pack and Move Day to assist with selecting, cleaning, packing and delivery as we transform a house into a home for a homeless family, individual, or foster youth. By providing beds, tables, dishes, couches, etc. We ease the burden of our clients trying to furnish an empty apartment while working towards becoming self sustainable. Our service allows our clients to focus on work, school, and caring for their families. We meet in front parking lot at or storage unit, Armored Self Storage, 14245 S. 48th Street, Phoenix, 85048 at 7:30am. We will pack and load the truck, drive to the client’s home, unload the truck, set up the furniture and unpack household items. Volunteers are asked to carpool or drive themselves to the delivery location. Location of delivery will be determined closer to the work date. Able-bodied volunteers may be asked to lift heavy items and/or assemble furniture. There are less strenuous volunteer activities as well (unpacking boxes and making beds). A Volunteer Waiver and Confidentiality Agreement MUST be signed prior to volunteer day. Times may vary depending on location of the client’s home. We usually finish work by noon.
