Our Children Our Future, the Allen County Systems of Care, is hosting the 2nd annual Family Fun Night at The Summit. The event will feature 40+ local providers, ranging from mental health, physical health and wellness, education, and youth agencies, for attendees to learn about resources available in our community. There will also be giveaways of socks/underwear, hygiene products, gift cards, and safety kits, as well as free food and a number of fun activities for kids and families to participate in. This year we are excited to partner with Wane TV as our media sponsor! The event will be kicked off by the Department of Child Services with their Child Abuse Prevention Month event. Anyone is welcome to attend, however, our target population for the Family Fun Night is youth and families that are involved in the child welfare system, homeless, or low /no income. Children that attend likely do not have very many of their own possessions due to moving from foster home to foster home, or their families just not being able to afford anything outside of basic human needs, many times including basic necessitiesAvailable Shifts

Hundreds of children enter foster each month. This transition no matter how brief can be devastating to children as it is often abrupt and without notice. Most time kids e of put into new environments for months without even some of the basic comfort(favorite toy, picture, book, etc) item to help the transition. Most times the new home may not immediately even have some of the basic essential items the child needs (toothbrush, baby bottles, diapers, etc). Because One Matter has start a new initiative to help "Sooth the Soul" of these children and lighten the task of foster parents by providing some of the essential and comfort item to children making that transition into foster care. We believe that it often time takes the smallest thing that can positively affect a child's future, so our goal with this project is to show them they are still love by providing them with a care package duffle bag during their transition.Available Shifts

On April 21, 2018 DCRC will hold its 11th annual Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser to support deaf youth and family programs. Teams of five gather at Beaver-Vu Lanes, 1238 N Fairfield Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45432 to have fun and raise funds. Most deaf or hard of hearing children (approximately 90%) are born to hearing parents who have little experience or former knowledge of deafness. Since hearing loss is considered a low incidence situation, most of those children also attend their neighborhood school where they may never have an opportunity to meet another child who wears hearing aids or has a Cochlear Implant. DCRC's Kid's Club activities are designed to bring families with children who have hearing loss together with other families to share experiences, resources, and just have fun. Kids develop an identity based on sameness, not differences. All our Kid's Club activities are funded by fundraising events, donations, and small grants. Organize your team/teams of five and come out to support the youth and family programs of DCRC.Available Shifts
