Court Appointed Special Advocates are ordinary citizens doing extraordinary things. CASA empowers volunteers to directly influence life-changing decisions for a child in the foster care or juvenile probation systems.

CASA volunteers advocate for the safety and wellbeing of children in the foster care system who have been abused or neglected. And, they provide much needed mentorship to youth in both the foster care and juvenile probation systems. They devote 2-4 hours a week getting to know the child and their families, and uncovering what the child needs and what is in their best interest, helping them heal, grow, and thrive. They speak up when it matters most - in the courtroom, in the classroom and the community.

Volunteers are fully trained and supported by CASA staff and are part of a care team. Advocates are matched one to one with a child or youth and remain with them until their case is closed.
For many children in foster care, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives.
For many volunteers, CASA is a life-changing experience that brings personal fulfillment as well as making a positive contribution in our community.

When a child is given a diagnosis of cancer, the family goes into immediate crisis mode. Time has began ticking against a disease that will rapidly take over a child's body so the battle for survival begins at the moment of diagnosis. The most important decision a family can make is which hospital will provide their child the best chance at surviving this disease by that hospitals treatment strategy. This decision can be costly both financially and emotionally.

The treatment plan is crucial to helping improve a child's chance at survival and cancer research varies from hospital to hospital. Many families are forced to make the choice of affordability based upon not being able to afford to travel for treatment so they go to the hospital that is in closest proximity. Along Comes Hope impacts families in removing the decision of affordability versus survivability. No child should have to be given a lesser chance at survival based upon their geography.
Your support allows a family to afford to go to the location that gives them the best fighting chance!

***YOUR Volunteers and Corporate Sponsorship Team can work together to raise funds for a family or children hospitalized in your local area. If you would like your Team to focus on a few families in your area to provide support to, contact us at:

Hearts & Horses could not operate without dedicated volunteers – they are our backbone and primary source of support. Without the extra set of hands to help riders sit tall, the communication between horse and leader, the constant care of our horses and their home, and the partnerships in our community, it would be nearly impossible to serve our riders!
Are you interested in learning more about Hearts and Horses? Our volunteer orientation is an exciting opportunity to get familiar with our programs and our volunteer opportunities!
