Volunteer Horse Conditioning, Riding SchedulePlease join us in becoming a Volunteer or returning as a Volunteer! Whether you are an enthusiast with many years of horse experience, or this is your first time working with horses, your time with us is invaluable and appreciated!
As important as our horses are to the programs at WCR, just as important are the Horse Leaders! The horse leaders at WCR lead the horse and/or assist the client in controlling the horse during a lesson. The Horse Leader is focused on the horse to ensure the safety of the client, and helps maintain the horse's pace, calmness, and focus. This role is perfect for those that are familiar with horses, or who are interested in learning how to work with horses. Horse Leaders must attend an orientation and “Taking the Lead” training.
Volunteer training for this role is to ensure that everyone working with our horses and clients consistently use proper techniques. This attention to quality and consistency allows us to run safe programs and maintain the high standards we strive for as a PATH Intl. Center member.
We will spend time brushing, grooming, picking feet, and taking the horses for a walk to get back into “program mode”.

The Parenting Place offers free toy lending and a free Diaper Bank for any local family. Through the Toy Lending Library, families can check out toys, puzzles, and games at no charge for up to 3 weeks. The Diaper Bank is used by families who have an immediate need for diapers. Families are given 10-12 diapers at a time and there is no income requirement. Volunteers would be packaging diapers in packs of 10 and organizing our overstock of diapers, as well as organizing and cleaning up our Toy Lending Library. Volunteer help on this work day will help both of these heavily-utilized services run smoothly for families in the coming year!Available Shifts

On Tuesday nights, volunteer groups from the community prepare, provide, and serve meals to the families in our Transitional Housing and at our Transitional Living and Learning Center (TLLC). Our families are working hard to make the transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency and we like to bless their efforts with a mealso that they can focus on Tuesday Life Skills Classes. This is a great opportunity to serve SAMMinistries’ families first hand.
MEALS MUST BE SERVED AT 5:30PM
Past meals have included:
- Side: Salad, Green beans, fruit, corn-on-the-cob, chips, mashed potatoes.
- Main Dish: Casserole, pasta, barbeque, hamburger, hot dogs, subs.
- Desert: Fruit salad, pudding , brownies, cookies, cake, ice cream
- Beverage: Tea, lemonade, and punch. (TLLC has an ice machine)
Meals usually consist of 4 parts with one of each of the preceding items, but they do not have to.
Attendees:
- Volunteer teams should consist of at least six group members
- Youth volunteers are welcome to help as long as accompanied by parents or guardians

- If the meal will be prepared in the TLLC kitchen, then we suggest arriving around 3:30 to
begin preparing the meal.
- If the meal will be prepared off-site then allow your team enough time to set-up (i.e., wipe
down tables, place chairs at tables, prepare drinks and ice cups, and set up meal for
distribution).
- Life Skill Classes begin at 6:30, so clean-up may begin as early as 6:15pm. In order to ensure that
all families receive a meal, we ask that seconds not be served until 6:10 p.m.
What to bring:
- Cooking Ware
- Dish Soap (for your use only) and Cleaning sponge (optional)
- Any serving utensils necessary
Optional Supplies (SAMMinistries has these items, but we would appreciate any donations):
