May is foster care awareness month and in honor of it we celebrate our families and kiddos. This event is important for many reasons but the top two are:
1) This event allows the kids to be kids and have fun!
2) This event also reminds the foster families that they are not in this alone. Not only do they have the support of La Paloma, but they have a community of other foster parents who understand their day to day struggles and successes!

The goal of this event is to raise money for the Children's Advocacy Alliance so that we can further our mission of providing hope, healing and a voice for justice for abused and neglected children in our community. Additional funding will allow us to recruit and train more volunteer advocates for our CASA program to work with children in the foster care system. It will allow our child advocacy center to provide more children with forensic interviews, family advocacy, mental health services and sexual assault exams.

For each volunteer we are able to recruit to sell beer, take tickets or assist with the family tent, we receive a critical donation toward our job training program for homeless and at-risk youth.

All volunteers have the opportunity to sign up to work directly with a friend, and will receive free food and drink tickets at the end of their shift so they can enjoy the festival.

Events like these, not only raise much needed funds for our programs, but also help to break the stigma of mental health and may provide just the right encouragement an individual may need to seek help. Your support is needed to continue keeping our
community healthy, and influence others to rally in support of local, quality programs.
If you want to help, we are seeking sponsorships, event day volunteers, goody bag items & door prizes.

Our mission is to create awareness through education, safety services, and community events which keep children, teens and families safe. We strive to reduce the number of injuries and deaths attributed to motor vehicle crashes, abductions and other sources of potential harm.

Our Community Safety Awareness Day events and programs present lifesaving services, information, exhibits and demonstrations. We offer child passenger safety seat checks, our ID kit program and driver distraction education. Our safety events and programs especially target the underserved, disadvantaged, at risk, and low income populations. We use a portion of our funding to provide car seats to those who attend events with unsafe or no seats provided for their children.

Our cause is compelling as it addresses child passenger seat safety and distractions while driving, which are the two leading causes of death and injury to children and teens.
