Camp Breathe Easy is a free one-day camp that serves asthmatic children, ages six to thirteen, and their parents or guardians. The goal of Camp Breathe Easy is to teach children and their parents how to cope with asthma and prevent asthma attacks, in turn reducing school absenteeism, the number of emergency room visits taken each year, and the number of days parents miss from work due to their child’s illness. We would like to create activity kits so that the participants can make model lungs out of cups and balloons, to help them understand their asthma.

Project Bundle-Up, a joint venture of The Salvation Army and WTAE-TV, provides children ages birth to 18 years and senior citizens 62 years and older with brand new winter outerwear. Hundreds of low income children are selected each year throughout Western PA to participate in special shopping trips at local retailers. During these trips, children have the opportunity to shop with local sports celebrities, WTAE-TV personalities and caring volunteers from area corporations who generously donate their time and support to The Salvation Army and WTAE-TV’s Project Bundle-Up.

As a Kohl’s Associates In Action charity partner, Project Bundle-Up is requesting the help of 5 associates for each Kohl’s shopping trip at the Kohl's Store Locations in Western PA for the Fall 2018 (dates TBD). We have been honored to have this partnership with Kohl’s spanning the past several years. For more information, please contact Andrew Cader, Project Bundle-Up Director, 700 N. April is the national observation of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Every April, businesses, houses of worship, nonprofits, schools, municipalities and service organizations "plant" pinwheel gardens throughout NJ and nationally in support of Great Childhoods for all children. In NJ, we arrange a Big Pinwheel Garden where government officials, business people, children's advocates, students etc. come together for a large "rally" and "plant" 1,000 pinwheels. This helps us promote great childhoods, positive parenting and healthy child development. This year, we'll host the Big Pinwheel Garden in Asbury Park, NJ. We invite representatives from Kohl's to help us! Putting up signage, Participating in the "rally" (Great Childhoods!), distributing pinwheels, "planting" pinwheels, taking photographs and removing pinwheels and signage so as to leave the beach in pristine condition.

Dancing with the Stars is a fundraiser modeled after the hit television show. Local "celebrities" compete in a dance competition for the coveted mirror ball trophy. There is a silent auction available and guests are served a plated meal. The funds raised at this event will directly impact children in Florida served by One Hope United.

Since its inception, One Hope United’s purpose has been to care for children and to ensure they grow up in safe, loving environments. Today OHU’s team of over 700 talented professionals serves thousands of children and families each year in Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri and Florida. One of our most important goals is to ensure a safe and loving home for every child. We work with children of all ages who are wards of the state due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. These children need a stable, dependable, forever home and a family they can call their own. Safe, well-educated and well-cared-for children become adults who contribute to a more prosperous community.

One Hope United has support and counseling available for adoptive parents, children and families to help them grow together every step of the way.
