State FCCLA is a competition for the Utah delegation. Students are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. STAR Events allow students to compete individually or as a team. There are more than 30 STAR Events students can choose to compete in, all of which recognize participants who demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities to actively identify an issue concerning families, careers, or communities, research the topic, and develop and implement a project to advocate for positive change.

We are in need of Judges. We have 35 different categories to choose from.

Who is CIS of Puyallup: Communities In Schools of Puyallup provides academic and non-academic services to empower all students to reach their full potential. Our team of caring site coordinators helps students achieve academic, attendance, and behavior goals, while offering access to basic needs, like clothing, food, and school supplies. By partnering with the community, these resources are available to students within the school building.

Closet2Closet is a local non-profit that provides dignified wardrobe assistance for youth in foster care. This 100% volunteer organization that was founded by former foster children is celebrating its 10 year anniversary! To mark this milestone, we are holding our first ever fundraiser on June 25 from 4:30-7:00 pm at the Riverfront Grille in Rock Island.

Opportunity Details

The mission of the Gary Turbak Memorial Back to School Clothing Project is to provide at risk and low-income children aged 4-12 with a NEW set of clothes to start the school year. Started in 1986, the event has been held every August for the last 37 years in the Fellowship Hall at St. Paul Lutheran Church. We request donations from church members and others, grants from local businesses and foundations to purchase NEW clothing for the project. Several other churches also participate through donations and by collecting NEW socks and underwear to for the “store”.

We partner with local social service agencies who refer low-income families with at-risk children who are invited to attend a "store" that is set up in our Fellowship Hall. The families and children are selected without regard to race, religion, or sexual orientation. The children shop in the “store” and select their own NEW set of clothing to start the school year. Any leftover clothing is donated to the Missoula Public Schools for their Family Resource Centers and their Back to School Bash. In 2022 approximately 475 children were served. In 2021 approximately 420 children were served and in 2020 approximately 330 received NEW clothing. As can be seen by the numbers, there is a growing need for this project in our community,

Because of the increasing need, the “store” will be expanded to two days this year, on August 14 and 15. 100% of the funds raised is spent on the NEW clothing. All administrative costs and venue costs are donated.

Volunteer Role Description:
As a board member, you will work collaboratively with other board members and the executive team to provide guidance, oversight, and leadership to Mentors for Youth of Dubois County. Key responsibilities include:
-Strategic planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization's strategic goals and initiatives. Provide valuable insights and expertise to ensure the long-term success and growth of Mentors for Youth of Dubois County.
-Governance and policy development: Review and establish organizational policies, procedures, and bylaws. Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, and promote transparency and accountability within the organization.
-Financial stewardship: Provide financial oversight, including reviewing and approving budgets, monitoring financial performance, and assisting with fundraising efforts. Help identify potential funding sources and partnerships to support the organization's sustainability.
-Community outreach and advocacy: Act as an ambassador for Mentors for Youth of Dubois County, promoting our mission, programs, and impact within the community. Advocate for the importance of youth mentorship and engage with stakeholders, potential donors, and community leaders to build partnerships and support for our organization.
-Board meetings and committees: Attend regular board meetings, actively participate in discussions, and contribute your unique perspective and expertise. Serve on committees or task forces as needed to address specific organizational needs or projects.

Requirements and Qualifications:
-Demonstrated commitment to youth development and community engagement
-Expertise or experience in one or more of the following areas: non-profit governance, strategic planning, finance and accounting, fundraising, marketing and public relations, legal, or youth services
-Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
-Ability to think strategically and make informed decisions
-Willingness to commit time and effort to attend board meetings, committee meetings, and organizational events
-Willingness to advocate for the organization and act in its best interests

Willingness to adhere to program guidelines and maintain confidentiality

The Golf Tournament of Hope has been an event of Lily's Hope Foundation since 2014 and was our first major fundraiser to help raise money for preemies and their families. This event is open to the community and encourages golfers of all skill levels to come out for a fun-filled day of golf to support Lily's Hope Foundation. Snacks and lunch are provided along with many prizes and giveaways for all participants. This event is one of our three major special event fundraisers throughout the year. We need help with registration, food set up, and event set up.
