Volunteer with The Nines!
We are so excited to resume our in-person boxing events this month - and welcome back our wonderful volunteers! We need help with everything from setting-up shop to sorting, styling, and gift wrapping 250 curated gift boxes for girls in need.

We have six boxing events to choose from, spanning from Aug 24th to Sep 1st. Choose how you'd like to support by selecting your ticket type according to desired event date and role:

Stylist: You’ll be pulling, styling, sizing, and outfitting curated boxes. We'll offer a quick training the night-of on The Nines criteria, process, and style guides.

Boxing: You’ll fold, wrap, accessorize, and work your best boxing magic! We want each gift box to be prepared with the utmost love, care and attention - to ensure our girls feel like they are getting a truly unique gift, lovingly prepared just for them.

This + That: In this role you’ll support as our go-to on the ground during the event, signing in volunteers, keeping the merchandise tables and racks neat and tidy, and pitching in to help with a variety of tasks from sorting and organizing to restocking and boxing.

The Iowa Dental Foundation's premiere community health event, the Iowa Mission of Mercy (IMOM), is returning to Des Moines on November 4-5, 2022 at the Varied Industries Building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. IMOM has been the Iowa Dental Foundation’s most successful endeavor since its inception in 2008, providing over 15,000 patients free dental care totaling in excess of $10 million. When Iowa MOM last came to Des Moines in 2013, over 1,475 patients were treated during the two-day clinic and over $1 million in free dental care was provided.

The Iowa MOM is a two day, large scale event where free oral health care is provided to individuals who face barriers to receiving oral health care. MOMs are held in large venues where mobile dental equipment is brought in and a full service field dental clinic set up. IMOM is designed to treat immediate, acute needs of its patients. Patients are screened by our medical triage unit to ensure they are healthy enough for dental treatment, then evaluated by our dental triage team and sent to the treatment area most needed: hygiene, oral surgery, endodontics, restorative, pediatrics, and prosthodontics (lab). Over 1,000 dental professionals and other individuals volunteer their time to the event.

Volunteer registration is available at iowamom.org.

NAC serves a growing population of youth and we need your help to add a more personal touch to their gifts this winter! We anticipate that 400 NAC teens will be requesting gift cards for the holidays this year. Your assistance with decorating and personalizing these cards will make their holidays just a little more joyful and a little brighter. A gift card with a special note grants our older youth with the autonomy to purchase a gift of their choosing and helps to share an essential reminder that they are loved.

*Please note that due to NYC mandates, all volunteers must submit proof of vaccination prior to the event and be masked while in attendance.

AofH Center is in need of volunteers to assist in the sorting and preparations of donations that we receive. Most donations are clothing, shoes, accessories, hygiene items, blankets, no perishable food items. These events typically are 1-3 hours long and take place during the week, mid day or early evening.

We need dependable volunteers to help during sorting events. Items need to be separated by things that are ok to be given out and things that are not. This includes washing of items, wiping down shoes, hanging items on clothing racks and organizing the storage facility. Gloves and masks are provided.

Donation sorting takes place at the storage facility and at the resource center.
