Whether you're an individual or a team, a volunteering day is a great opportunity to get away from the screens for the day, strengthen relationships and feel connected to community.

We offer regular volunteering opportunities at the following locations:

- Cranbourne West, VIC (up to 10 people, fortnightly on Wednesdays or Thursdays)
- Sefton Park, SA (up to 6 people, once a month on Thursdays)

The benefits include:
- Learn new skills while using your existing ones.

Proms are usually designed for people who can see. Our teens go to these proms but they can't enjoy them the way sighted teens do and they are often the only visually impaired person at the event. To ensure our teens experience a prom to the fullest, we hold them at no-cost and we invite teens just like them from other Lighthouses. This year’s theme is “A Night Under the Stars!” There will be lots of cosmic decorations, fun food, and dancing.

Our teens tells us our proms help them socially—they learn how to dance and mingle, and they make life-long friends. They also make important memories that remind them that they fit in, are important and unique, and that they can do anything. Therefore the prom helps them adjust to vision loss successfully.

Volunteers are needed to help with decorating, set up, handing out gift bags, serving food, assisting teens as needed, and tear down. We hope we can engage up to 5 volunteers to help for the amount of time they are able. Volunteers work for 2 or more hours and are provided with an orientation to blindness, drinks, food, and breaks as required. We appreciate any help we can get!

The event is rain or shine though it will be held mostly indoors. Please wear comfortable shoes. If you feel unwell on the day of the event, please let us know and stay home.

Thank you!

The 19th Annual Grapevine Presented by North Hills Toyota will be hosted on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Revel + Roost in Downtown Pittsburgh from 6-8 p.m.

Grapevine, the signature event of Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, brings together Make-A-Wish supporters, wish families and dedicated volunteers for a dynamic evening with one singular aim: coming together to grant life-changing wishes.
Attendees will sample seven wines thoughtfully paired with heavy hors d'oeuvres and enjoy the event's highly anticipated silent auction and the ever-popular Mystery Wine Sale.

We kindly ask for volunteers to help us set-up prior to the event (11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.). This will include putting together favor bags, wrapping wine bottles for the Mystery Wine Sale, putting signs up and helping set up the silent auction baskets. Your volunteer efforts will help us raise even more money to grant wishes to local children with critical illnesses.

If you have any questions, please contact Shenell Pooran at 4124719474 or at spooran@greaterpawv.wish.org.

What was your favorite book as a child? Did you have a book that you read over and over again because it brought you joy? Something that you bookmarked by folding the corners? Something you could read with your parent(s)?

Angelwish needs your inner child to help us put brand new books in the hands of children living with chronic illnesses. We need you (AND your team of volunteers) to pick out and purchase books that will be sent to the hospital below so that the social workers can give them to the parents to give to their children.

We will give you a budget and a list of kids ages to purchase for. The goal is to purchase as many new books as possible within the budget and deliver them to the hospital. When in doubt, it doesn't hurt to bring in real experts - and ask kids that you know, what their favorite books are/were.
