On Friday, August 23, 2019, the Lincolnshire Police Department will commence its inaugural Heroes Night from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at North Park (1025 Riverwoods Road, Lincolnshire). Heroes Night is a new summertime special event replacing National Night Out. Heroes Night was developed as a new opportunity for the Village of Lincolnshire, to not only celebrate and acknowledge Police Officers, but to recognize all the remarkable “everyday” people who selflessly serve to help others. The event will include Village staff, Fire Department personnel, educators, medical caregivers, community volunteers, civic groups, Public Works, military, and Lincolnshire businesses who make a positive impact in the community.

Funding and volunteers from Kohl's will help KIDS ARE 1st save lives by reaching out to families in Illinois with our SAFETY FOR LIFE Services and Programs, handing out more child safety seats to those in need and motor vehicle safety education. Our cause is compelling as it addresses child passenger seat safety and distractive driving two leading causes of death and injury to children and teens. We also address the dilemma of missing children and teens by providing families with a custom safety informational ID kit.

IAFCs Early Learning Centers provide high-quality child care and outstanding preschool education to children (birth-age 5) living in families facing poverty in significantly under-resourced communities. This year, two of our four centers have not been supported by any corporate group and would benefit greatly from beautification.
 Ford Heights
Time Frame: October - July (Children present) August (No children present)

• Early Learning Centers are in need of beautification including de-weeding, laying mulch, gardening/planting
• Additional component interacting with children can be developed and included

This is critically important to improving community conditions and building the confidence of teachers, the children and families who attend, and the community as a whole, who will feel supported and inspired to maintain the work. Also, in the long term, when external forces begin taking interest in these underserved communities, more partners join and strengthen the economic fabric of the community.

First Shift - Volunteer in LVGH's childcare program. Help our youngest students play and explore while practicing the building blocks of literacy and English that will help them prepare for school. By offering childcare, we allow their parents to attend class and learn English. Volunteers will assist our Childcare Coordinator in implementing activities with the children throughout the morning. The ages of the children range from 1-4.

Second Shift - Our space doubled this past year and we are still in the process of re-painting some of our classrooms and office spaces. We are looking for people to tape and paint parts of our facility. With a small staff and a student population of over 900, it is important to us to maintain a professional looking and welcoming facility, so painting is critical to that end. We will provide all painting supplies.

💛 Spend Your 67 Minutes at Woodside – And Leave Forever Changed
Mandela Day | 18 July 2025

This Mandela Day, we invite you to move beyond donation and step into purpose. Come visit Woodside Special Care Centre, home to 80 profoundly disabled children and young adults — our beloved “forever residents” — and let your heart be moved.

Whether you’re a corporate team, a community group, or a compassionate individual, we welcome you to:

🧡 Donate essential items:

Tinned fish

Adult nappies

Toilet rolls

Toiletries

Non-perishable groceries

☕ Or better yet, deliver them in person, spend time with our residents, hear their laughter, witness their strength — and enjoy a warm cup of tea and refreshments with us afterward.

💬 As one past visitor shared: "I came to give my time... but I left with a changed heart."
