Do you believe that children have the right to live in a safe & nurturing home? Do you want to help a young person transition successfully out of foster care? Become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer today!

CASA/Prince George's County is a volunteer-based organization that partners with the juvenile court to positively impact the lives of abused and neglected children living in foster care. Volunteers are matched 1-on-1 to a child or teen in foster care and support them with mentorship and advocacy. It is known that incidences of abuse and neglect increase during disasters. During these uncertain times, you can support one of the 300 youth in foster care who still need an advocate to represent their best interests.

We will send you Assembly Kits that you can use at any clean table at the location of your choice. Each kit makes 20 faceshields and takes about an hour. All you need is a stapler and a pair of scissors. Most folks like to do it while watching TV, but it's up to you!

You can save a life by donating 1 hour of your time from the safety and comfort of your home! We will send you everything you need in an Assembly Kit to make PPE with no special equipment needed! It's easy to do (ages 5 and up) and can make a huge difference!

While many hospitals are now able to get Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), other facilities and organizations are still in great need! From senior centers to students, there is a shortage of PPE to fight Covid-19. How would you feel being asked to go to work in an environment where not only could it compromise your health, but the health of all your family members? You can help the people we count on to help us.

At SOSforPPE.org, we supply PPE Assembly Kits for our network of volunteers to safely make or assemble PPE and then we get it to our frontline caregivers to help keep them safe. We send you the Assembly Kit with all the materials you need to make face shields, masks or eaRests to help firemen, ambulance drivers, nurses, doctors, seniors, students and neighbors.

There is a tremendous need for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for our caregivers and others, can they count on you to help?

Meals On Wheels for Kids (MOW4Kids) (Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas Counties): Opportunities available until all children return to traditional school in person due to COVID-19, emergency, and holiday closings. Volunteers currently needed to help pack meals on Tuesdays and Saturdays and to help deliver on Mondays and Wednesdays. High need in Clearwater area.

Help us changes lives, by delivering one meal at a time. Volunteers are essential in providing care and compassion to kids in need of nutrition assistance. As a volunteer, you can: help kids receive a nutritious meal in their home when school is closed, brighten the days of those you deliver to, and work directly with your community by making a difference!

We rely on 125 volunteers each week to assist with packing and delivering nutritious lunches to our younger neighbors and their families. With the help of compassionate and dedicated volunteers, we are able to serve many more children in need of meal assistance in Dade City (Pasco County), Clearwater and St. Petersburg (Pinellas County) and Wimauma (Hillsborough County) when school is closed (ie. emergency closings, holiday breaks, etc.). Volunteer drivers are greatly needed to assist with packing and delivering meals on M-SAT between 10:00am-1:00pm. A route takes about an hour to complete. All volunteers must have a valid drivers license and pass a background check.

Open to men and women, this first-class shoot is a fun and relaxing day outdoors with good food, shooting clays and exciting prizes! Participants will come together to raise funds to help make wishes come true for children battling life-threatening medical conditions.

The most unique dining event of the year with non-stop racing, entertainment and food from the area’s finest restaurants during the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA® from the Midway Suites of Daytona International Speedway. Proceeds from this event benefit The NASCAR Foundation's Speediatrics Children's Fund which supports needs expressed by hospitals, specialty clinics, camps, and others providing children's medical and health care services.

The Foundation for CFI is hosting a charity golf event supporting the largest domestic violence shelter in central Iowa operated by Children & Families of Iowa!

Volunteers assist with event set-up, help golfers check-in, sell raffle tickets, help out at holes with games and other tasks as needed.

Opportunity Details

There is an ongoing opportunity to assist with preparing diapers for our Diaper Bank. The Diaper Bank provides free diapers to any parent or caregiver in the community. Approximately 250 families have used the Diaper Bank so far in 2020 and the need is growing as financial challenges of the pandemic continue to affect families with young children.

There is no end date for this opportunity. Specific volunteer times will need to be coordinated with Nell Saunders-Scott (nellsaunders-scott@theparentingplace.net)
