11th Annual Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser. Each year DCRC holds a Bowl-A-thon fundraiser to support the Kids Club program, designed to build self esteem and strengthen families. The money earned provides activities throughout the year with two that are especially highlighted. DCRC provides not less that six activities during the summer to provide socialization for deaf kids who often feel isolated and separated from hearing peers with whom it is difficult to communicate. Summer activities are provided with language access to all, no matter their mode of communication. Siblings, parents, and grandparents are encouraged to attend to increase communication within the family as well. A portion of the Bowl-A-Thon proceeds supports OYO camp for deaf and hard of hearing kids, age 7-high school, bringing kids together from around the state. In addition to summer activities and events throughout the year, the highlight for many is our annual "Signing Santa" who comes to share breakfast and gifts with Deaf and hard of hearing kids from the community and their families. This year's total goal for the Bowl-A-Thon is to earn at least $5,000 to support this year's programs. Looking for teams of 5 people each.

Dubuque March for Babies takes place on Saturday, April 28 at Hodge and Bergfeld Pond and Recreation Area (7500 Chavenelle Road). Our 2018 fundraising goal is $150,000. Funds raised through March for Babies further the mission of the March of Dimes - to give every mom a healthy, full term pregnancy and every baby the best possible start to life. March of Dimes leads the fight for the health of ALL moms and babies through research, advocacy, and education. It is our goal to prevent birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. By participating in March for Babies, you are making a statement about the world you want to live in -- one where healthy moms and strong babies are a priority for us all.

Opportunity Details

Most Valuable Kids is a non profit agency that turns tickets and experiences into life-changing opportunities for underserved kids. Many of our tickets are to attend sporting events through the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. Many times the kids we send to the games attend with staff, mentors and volunteers. Because most of the kids do not have the financial means to get food from the concessions, we offer snack packs for the volunteers to utilize. We want to normalize a ballpark experience for the kids as well as help to offset the cost to volunteers/mentors who are giving their time.

Local band, MD&TH, is hosting Still Not Foolin', a benefit concert for James House at the Petersburg Area Art League outdoor stage. This benefit's mission is to create awareness and funding for survivors of sexual violence and child abuse. This is an event for all ages and will have a bounce house, face painting, food and beverages. Live performances by DJ Art Fixion, Guinevere, Badmotivator, Suzie Mojo, and Eric Hunter
