The Foundation for CFI is hosting a charity golf event supporting the largest domestic violence shelter in central Iowa operated by Children & Families of Iowa!

Volunteers assist with event set-up, help golfers check-in, sell raffle tickets, help out at holes with games and other tasks as needed.

Opportunity Details

There is an ongoing opportunity to assist with preparing diapers for our Diaper Bank. The Diaper Bank provides free diapers to any parent or caregiver in the community. Approximately 250 families have used the Diaper Bank so far in 2020 and the need is growing as financial challenges of the pandemic continue to affect families with young children.

There is no end date for this opportunity. Specific volunteer times will need to be coordinated with Nell Saunders-Scott (nellsaunders-scott@theparentingplace.net)

Call handlers - or controllers - are our unsung heroes. Without these volunteers, we'd just have bikes and cars looking pretty but with nothing to do!

Working from home, or on the move if it suits, you'll receive calls from our NHS partners, record the details and then tell our volunteer riders and drivers where to go (in the nicest possible way)!

If you have a confident telephone manner, can keep records of events and don’t easily panic under pressure, you could be just the person we are looking for.

You would work from home as we will direct incoming calls to you via an automated system – your number remains private at all times – and you would be reimbursed for any outbound calls you make on our behalf, if they're not part of any phone package you already have.

This is a vital role in ensuring that we provide the NHS with a first class service.

We need people to cover all hours – evenings, nights, early mornings, weekends and bank holidays and we will provide all the training you need to get started, plus ongoing support, and mentors to help with your first shifts if you need them.

We don't throw you in at the deep end...

Controllers can also be riders and drivers for our charity too - you're not limited to one role!

Willow House is hosting a socially distant event for families to honor and remember loved ones, Willow House's Drive to Remember. This event is a part of our larger weeklong event, Week to Remember, featuring a virtual 5k, memorial walk, virtual family activities, and culminating in our Drive to Remember.
The Drive to Remember will be held at North Shore Unitarian Church in Bannockburn, and will feature a drive with memory markers of loved ones that line the drive.
We are in need of volunteers to help direct traffic (in a parking lot), set up, tear down, and give out gift bags. Volunteers are expected to volunteer for 4 hours from 1PM to 5PM on Sunday, September 27th at North Shore Unitarian Church.
Masks are expected to be worn, social distancing will be practiced, and frequent cleaning of surfaces will be preformed.

If you will be working as a small team, please follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) health and safety guidelines for COVID-19, state and local government requirements. We have included Happy Hope Factory safety guidelines included in a flyer (in all packaging) for packaging bags ,including, but not limited to disinfecting work space, proper hand washing, wearing a mask and using hand sanitizer regularly. If you are ill or have been ill in the past 14 days, please do not participate.

Your team will be crafting, creating and assembling these super fun themed packages guaranteed to deliver a boost of hope and hours of activity for these special children during their hospital stay. Hope Boxes contain all components required to assemble the Hope Bags. A prepaid UPS label is also included to take your donation to your local facility. If your team cannot complete the box within two weeks of your scheduled event please contact your hope box coordinator as children are awaiting your Hope Box donation. We can all be Hope Heroes, thank you for packaging happiness and smiles for a child in your local hospital.
