Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children is a national network of over 950 community based programs that recruit, train and support citizen volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in courtrooms and communities. Volunteer advocates empowered directly by the courts, offer judges the critical information they need to ensure that each child’s rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care. Volunteers advocate for the child until they are placed in a loving permanent home. For many abused children, a CASA volunteer is the only constant adult presence in their lives.Independent research has demonstrated that children with a CASA volunteer are substantially less likely to spend time in long-term foster care and less likely to re-enter care. They receive more court appointed services and are more likely to find a safe and permanent home. CASA of the 16th Judicial District, Inc. serves children who have been taken into foster care in Cleburne, Independence, Stone, Izard and Fulton Counties.
Mission Statement: Our mission is to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the courts. We promote and support quality volunteer representation to ensure that every child has the opportunity to live in a safe, permanent and nurturing home.
