SBAAZ is a local charity serving families and young adults affected by Spina Bifida. This event provides a carnival atmosphere picnic to encourage community and friendships valleywide that will span the journey of life with many challenges including lifelong wheelchair use, multiple extensive surgeries, advocacy and independence. Volunteers will be a part of making this day great for children and facilitating strengthening of families and resources to better health. Children are active, engaged and the venue is outdoors and very lively!!

Opportunity Details

This is the largest fundraiser of African Vision of Hope, a ministry that educates and equips children in a third world country. This event helps to provide support to cover teacher salaries, provide education for the children, as well as school supplies, clean water, a hot meal each day and medical care for 3000+ children in Zambia, African.
Set up for the event will require many volunteers the day before and the day of the event.

The goal of our Bair Foster Family Christmas party is to bring together foster children, foster families, staff, and biological families for a time of fellowship and fun. The Bair Foundation hosts this annually to celebrate the holiday seasons. During this celebration we distribute Christmas presents to our children and families, bowl, take pictures and facilitate games. We would need volunteers to assist with setting up, hosting games, and distributing gifts and clean up. We need you to make this day special for our children and families.

Students in 6 school districts are identified by school staff as living in food-insecure homes. KidFuel Packs are filled with nutritious foods for the weekend. Volunteer liaisons come in every Thursday morning from 7:30 a.m. - to 9:30 a.m. to pick up KidFuel Packs to deliver to their designated Schools. On Tuesday of every week, volunteers fill the KidFuel Packs from 8:30 am - 11:30 am for an estimated 750 students.

Opportunity Details

At Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired our mission is to empower people of Greater Cincinnati who are blind or visually impaired with opportunities to seek independence. We do this by surrounding our clients with the most caring people and helpful services to build a plan based on their needs.

CABVI is hosting an annual event for blind and visually impaired youth in our community. Cane Quest is competition event where students can show off their orientation and mobility skills. These include skills such as using their white canes to locate a curb, safely walk up and down stairs, and locate dropped objects on the floor without sight. The event not only gives the students to compete for prizes, but also show their parents and loved ones the skills they are learning from specialists in school. Families are able to meet and mingle with others experiencing the same struggles. Students are able to take pride in the skills they have learned and the steps they have taken toward independence despite their disability.

We loved having Kohl's Cares volunteers last year that helped prepare lunches, set up activities and work with kids.

Goal:
To create 500 sack lunches for homeless families

Why it's important:
We believe that everyone deserves to not feel forgotten. Those who depend on community support often find limited resources on weekends and towards the end of the month. This program is designed to fill in the gap. Additionally, we are targeting our distributions in our direct community to serve children and their families. As a way to tie in to our mission of helping those in need to not feel forgotten we are including handmade cards from our children's unit.
