This fundraiser was our largest last year and provided over thirty beds for children in Okaloosa County that do not have a bed of their own. Our goal this year is to have more supporters join us for the dinner and provide more beds than we provided last year. Every child deserves to have a bed of their own.We need volunteers to serve and clear each course. Our chefs will orchestrate and give instructions of when everything needs to be done. Everyone receives the same plate, so no order taking. Wear black solid clothing, hair back and comfortable, flat shoes. Please bring your smile!

Camp to Belong–Wisconsin, Inc. (CTB-WI) connects and reunites siblings involved with the child welfare system. This includes separated siblings regardless of what their particular living arrangements are (i.e. biological home, kinship providers, foster homes, adoptive homes, living independently). Our mission is for separated siblings to build and maintain connections through a variety of programs. The main program is a summer camp at which children placed in out-of-home care can be with their biological siblings to build shared memories and connections. Our primary fundraiser is our annual Bowl-a-Thon event. All money raised at this event supports programming for our week long summer camp. Currently in Wisconsin there are over 7,300 children placed in foster care and 50% to 75% are separated forma at least one of their siblings.
Teams of 5 can register for the event. Each team is anticipated to raise $500, which is the camper fee for one child to attend camp. Free food , a CTB-WI t-shirt and fun are included for all participants.

Are you passionate about helping little kids reach their full potential? Vancouver Urban Ministries is recruiting a part-time tutor to join our team starting in October 2018.Vancouver Urban Ministries is a registered charity that provides tutoring to disadvantaged children with learning disabilities in the poorest neighbourhoods of East Vancouver. We are recruiting a tutor who shares our passion and belief that all children are unique and valuable and deserve every opportunity to participate in education to the greatest extent possible.
The demographic in which VUM operates includes some of the most vulnerable families in Canada. The families we serve include those from an Aboriginal background, recent immigrants and single-parent families, who suffer significantly higher poverty rates than the national average.
The link between literacy and poverty has been clearly established and our conviction is that establishing literacy in the early years of a child’s life will greatly improve their opportunities for education and employment and address a significant issue which traps adults in a cycle of poverty.
VUM uses the multi sensory Orton-Gillingham approach to tutor the students in school during after school hours. We are recruiting volunteer tutors for 2018/2019 school year who are willing to commit to 2 hours per week. Please visit myvum.ca for more information about our specialized tutoring program.
