Opportunity Details

Proceeds benefit some of Northern Nevada's most vulnerable children. For Kids Foundation, a 501(C)(3), has been changing the lives of Northern Nevada children, one urgent need at a time since 2003. We hope to generate $65,000 from this year's dinner/dance fundraiser.

Enjoy an evening of good old-fashioned fun with Bavarian food/drink and dancing to live polka music provided by Northern Nevada legend Corky Bennett and the Wiener Schnitzels. We invite you to dust of your best Dirndl or Lederhosen and show your support while dancing the Polka!

This is one of our community's favorite events! It helps to bring our special needs community together for a super fun and inclusive event. Bingo is used as a fundraiser to help us support life-skills programs in our local area. We implement these programs in the natural setting of adaptive cooking lessons. Anchorpoint prepares and distributes several large mailings each year, including newsletters, donation request letters, and outreach materials. These mailings help Anchorpoint increase community awareness of services and raise critical funds to provide counseling and support services to uninsured, under-insured, and under-resourced neighbors who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, past trauma, and other needs. Volunteers are needed to stuff pre-folded letters and materials into envelopes.

April is the national observation of Child Abuse Prevention Month. We're hosting an event at Rutgers-Camden Campus to engage students, faculty, advocates, service organizations, community members and friends in raising awareness of the importance of preventing child abuse and neglect - and we'll have an interactive demonstration of "building a healthy brain" to reinforce that prevention is possible and we want to get kids off to a great start at the earliest age. We will create a Twitterstorm: #GreatChildhoodsNJ We're asking for help in setting up seating, distributing pinwheels and literature to guests, helping participants with the social media messaging, and restoring the room to its original state.

Opportunity Details

Five to eight volunteers are needed to bake cookies, cakes and brownies for the families residing at the Ronald McDonald House in Albany while they are dealing with their child's medical crisis. By making baked goods you will provide some wonderful comfort foods and a feeling of home and care for families who are far from their home and normal support system.
Easy baking mixes and ingredients have been donated for the volunteers who want to help in this way. Additionally, if any volunteer would prefer not to bake we would encourage to assist with organizing or cleaning instead.
