We need volunteers to help in the following areas:
Volunteers to help set up tables, paperwork, and arts & crafts prior to the start of the program.
Volunteers to greet the families and assist with parking.
Volunteers to ensure the families have completed Release of Liability forms and have signed our Sign-Up sheet.
Volunteers to help with an arts and crafts/activity table for the children while they are waiting their turn.
Volunteers to take photos and video of the program.

Volunteers who would like to take a class to learn how to groom and handle a horse and how to be a side-walker next to a child on horseback can take a class to learn how to perform these duties in a safe and secure manner. There is a modest fee for these classes.

We are actively seeking KidStart volunteer mentors in the North Shore area to be assigned to a child, age 6+.

Mentoring changes a young person’s life because it brings out their gifts. Once they find their gifts, they discover how to succeed. A mentor helps keep them on the path to following their dreams. Because of this, early intervention has been recognized as a highly effective way of addressing the living circumstances that can lead kids into difficult situations. Mentoring guides young people out of these situations.

Being a volunteer mentor with KidStart doesn’t require special skills, just common sense and a positive attitude. It means spending a couple hours each week of your time with a young person. You will be helping a child/youth to grow, thrive and connect with the community they call home.

With over 10,000 children in attendance at our Backpack Outreach events, we were only able to give away 4000 Backpacks and school supplies last year. This year, we endeavor to surpass that by giving away 10,000 Backpacks and School Supplies to children who need your help.

Here is how you can help:

1. Use your social media network and contacts to help drive awareness about the need that Metro Atlanta children have which is to have a Backpack full of supplies in order to be more effective at school. If you push this message out to your network, hopefully someone would donate.

2. Participate as a Retail Greeter. A retail Greeter hands out the School Supply wish list at the local store host and encourage patrons to purchase the items and drop them in your box.

3. Pack and Sort (at the Marietta/Atlanta office only). Once all the supplies and Backpacks arrive, there is a need to separate the items and pack them in the bags. This will be done on Saturdays in July (except the week of the 4th).

4. Assist with Day of Event Distribution at Bradford Community on July 30th 12-3pm OR at Atlanta Heights Charter School July 31st 5pm-7pm.

5. Personally donate and sponsor a certain number of backpacks (1, 5, 10, *25 backpacks) each bag is $6 each and/or ask your employer if the company would like to sponsor a certain number of backpacks.
