Did you know that suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in youth ages 10-24? Please join us Saturday, April 28th at Martin Luther King Jr. Park near Five Points for our first annual Columbia Wave Fest from 10:00 am-2:00 pm and help us create awareness around the importance of prevention, early intervention, and treatment of children’s mental health conditions.
75% of mental health disorders begin by age 24. The Columbia Wave Fest is an opportunity to educate the community on the resources available for children, youth and families impacted by emotional and behavioral health challenges while enjoying family fun. Led by the Federation of Families of SC, this celebratory event is in recognition of national Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week (CMHAW) and the impact of mental health and substance use recovery. We serve as Messengers of Hope by letting everyone know that recovery is possible. We believe that every individual’s emotional wellness is vital to overall health and success, regardless of age.
The Columbia Wave Fest is a one-day event modeled after the 8 Dimensions of Wellness (Emotional, Environmental, Financial, Occupational Physical, Social and Spiritual). Vendors will be offering on-site services for participants to include financial advice, haircuts, a gym holding exercise classes or instruction, and health screenings. There will also be live music, entertainment, food and bouncy houses!
For more information on how to participate, please visit www.fedfamsc.org/ColaWaveFest.

At Vision Forward, we provide comprehensive services to all individuals experiencing vision loss, helping them achieve important developmental milestones as well as educational, personal and professional goals.

Our annual event, Dining in the Dark is a unique event where guests dine under blindfold, and take a journey into the world of vision loss, discovering a deeper understanding and awareness of what people who are blind or visually impaired face. This event raises vital funds for children, youth and adults with vision loss.

About 200 guests will be joining us on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at The Italian Community Center to help us raise awareness of vision loss and to support our mission.

We would LOVE to welcome a group of Kohl's Associates to help us sell out our "Spirits Pull" raffle at the event. For questions or to sign up, please reach out to Joanna Rivas, Volunteer and Events Coordinator at jrivas@vision-forward.org

Thanks, and we hope that you can join us for this unique and unforgettable event!
