This October is our 4th annual Trunk or Treat at our school. This is a free community event and we open it up to all students and their families, as well as our neighborhood community. Last year, we had over 700 people attend! During this time, children are welcome to trick or treat at all the car trunks. We also will have a cake walk, a haunted house, a dunk tank, a coffee bar, and food available. This year, we are adding a Mad Scientist assembly, free for everyone! We wanted to create this event as a free community event, and we contribute everything for the carnival games, and the trunk or treat. This event requires many volunteers for it to run smoothly. Our PTC board members all contribute their time, and we have school staff that are their as well, but we always need more volunteers for the acutal night of the event. We are looking for a volunteer to help with our coffee bar, a volunteer to help distribute candy to all the trunks to pass out (and to keep them supplied throughout the evening, and three volunteers to help with the carnival games and assembly. Thank you for considering our event.Available Shifts

Sportsmen’s Friday Volunteer Experience:Our volunteer experience can be two-fold: The first part of the experience would include The Learning Center (TLC) at Sportsmen's which provides a comprehensive suite of academic and enrichment opportunities for over 200 underserved K-12 students each year. Volunteers will help younger students with reading and homework assistance. The second part of the experience involves our partnership with the Boston Police Department – Volley Against Violence (VAV) - that engages inner city youth in tennis while providing intentional mentoring, life skills training and educational experiences for youth ages 5 - 18. The youth come together from all throughout Boston on Friday evenings to learn and play tennis with the Boston Police Department, State Police, and MBTA Police officers and Sportsmen's coaches. Volunteers will engage with the younger participants in skills building tennis activities. Volunteers DO NOT need to know how to play tennis for this activity, but sneakers are required. Volunteers will have a rewarding and fun filled experience!
This two-fold experience would begin around 2:30/3 PM and run until 8 PM
Sportsmen’s will provide a light dinner for volunteers
Volley Against Violence runs from 6 PM until 8 PM
