We are requesting help from 5 Kohl's volunteers to help assemble basket for our St Patrick's Day Fundraiser. The basket assembly project will take place at our home office at 1735 N Kelly Ave, Upland, providing the presentation of beautiful raffle and auction prizes to be utilized at our event. Which encourages donors to participate in the raffle and auction. Megan's Wings provides help and hope to many local California families whose child is burdened with cancer. We are able to provide the financial support these families need by fundraising events throughout the year. Our St. Patrick's Day event provides an opportunity through tickets sales and raffle prizes to continue our work. Last year we provided 158 families with financial support to overcome their financial burdens such as mortgage/rent, utilities, transportation costs, and unfortunately funeral expenses.

The main purpose of this opportunity is to advocate for a child, being his or her “voice” in court. Advocate volunteers serve as an Investigator by gathering facts, talking with people who have knowledge about the child’s case, review documents, and prepare written reports to the court outlining a summary of the findings and assessments and serve as the “eyes and ears” of the judge. Volunteers serve as a Facilitator, assisting the court and social service agencies in eliminating delays and advancing the child’s case in a timely fashion. Advocates monitor compliance with court orders, provide follow-up on the case after a judge’s decision to see that court-ordered services are being provided to the child and family.

Founded in Houston, Texas in 2015, GO Run For Fun has become a sustainable community program that provides children at a formative age the necessary tools to lead positive and prepared lifestyles ready for the challenges of adulthood. In 2017, 14, 528 children in 22 participated in GO Run For Fun in the Alvin, Clear Creek and La Porte, Texas school districts. The mission of GO Run For Fun is simple…to get kids moving! This 1K fun run is delivered in elementary schools during the school day completely free of charge. Students are exposed to the benefits of running/walking through an exciting and fun agenda that includes music, local celebrity appearances and the opportunity to participate with their entire school at their own pace.

Our success results from the loyal dedication and hard work of many volunteers. GRFF volunteers help to set up the course, act as route marshalls and cheerleaders, run the sound and music system, act as mascot handlers, and help to break down the event equipment. Volunteers have the opportunity to engage with the students during the pre-event activities, during the run and are on-hand for "High-5 Duty," as kids cross the finish line.

By volunteering for a GO Run For Fun event, YOU are helping us to provide our local elementary school children with an opportunity to increase their self-esteem, perform better academically and foster confidence in kids at all sporting levels.
