For more than 65 years, Familylinks has been proudly serving individuals and families in western Pennsylvania. Last year alone, we served more than 11,000 people. These individuals range from children to seniors, in a variety of neighborhoods, income groups and beliefs. They all have one thing in common - when they turn to Familylinks in their time of need, we are here for them.

Our upcoming annual Familylinks Golf Classic is in its 39th year and has raised more than $4 million since its inception. This is Familylinks largest fundraising event and will raise critical funds needed for our mission. Volunteers are needed to assist with check-in, selling raffle tickets, supervising prize holes, setting up the auction and more.

As seniors down-size their living situations, and transition into more suitable healthcare situations (i.e. assisted-living) our residents have the option of helping others by donating their furniture, clothes and housewares to our annual Garage Sale. Proceeds from the sale benefit our Benevolent Fund, which helps residents who have outlived their own financial resources. Rather than displacing a member of the Concordia family, we believe strongly in doing all we can to continue providing the safe, nurturing environment they have come to call Home.

Want to volunteer but don't have much time? Become a volunteer for Help At Your Door!

In about 1 hour per week while volunteering from your home or workplace, you can build ongoing relationships and help older adults to stay in their home. You choose the day and time and we'll match you with clients who fit that schedule. Call to check on client's well-being and take their grocery orders over the phone. Grocery items are entered into an online ordering system on your computer or tablet.

We're looking for volunteers who love seniors and who have a good degree of comfort on the computer. Knowledge of grocery products a plus.

Volunteers are the backbone of many nonprofit organizations that address the needs of our communities. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Blair and Huntingdon Counties (RSVP) recruits volunteers age 55+ and matches them with local organizations at no cost to the volunteer or organizations. RSVP has actively engaged older adult volunteers in Blair and Huntingdon counties since 1972. The program is sponsored by Center for Community Action, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Through RSVP, volunteers have the opportunity to continue to use the skills and experiences they have acquired over their lifetime. This helps them remain active while providing much needed support for our communities. They serve at organizations such as Altoona Food Bank, Blair Senior Services, Meals on Wheels of Huntingdon and the VA Medical Center, just to name a few.

In addition to helping older adults find meaningful volunteer opportunities, RSVP provides recognition for the positive impact they have in our communities. RSVP hosts an annual volunteer recognition banquet to honor and celebrate the accomplishments of the RSVP Volunteers serving in both counties. This year, the event will be held as a picnic at DelGrosso’s Park, Tipton. Our 200+ RSVP Volunteers will be invited to attend the picnic lunch followed by a recognition program.

There will be many opportunities for Kohl’s associates to assist at this event including:
• set up and tear down of event
• registration of guests
• accepting and logging donations being brought to the event by guests for veteran programs
• assisting with delivering food to seated guests
• manning the soda fountain station
• distribution of materials and gifts to guests
