Sourcewise Home Beautification Project

Want to help your neighbor? The Sourcewise Home Beautification project is a perfect volunteer opportunity for you.

Volunteers can make an enormous impact on the lives of isolated seniors in our community by improving their living environment. Home Beautification projects assist older adults who may be struggling to maintain their homes due to a recent accident, disability, illness or physical limitations

What kinds of activities can I expect? Projects vary on a case-by-case basis. Volunteers might be part of a team that transforms a garden, sorts, organizes and declutters, builds furniture, paints a fence, or other small but important home maintenance tasks.

Upcoming projects

1) Any Tuesday from 1-3pm in Milpitas. We will be helping Jacquelyn sort items and downsize. Jacquelyn is bedbound and so needs assistance having items brought to her so she can decide what to do with them. 1-3 volunteers are needed.

2) (Tentative) Saturday December 9th from 9:30am-12pm in Sunnyvale. We will be helping Claudia finish preparing her old apartment for moving. Claudia is in a wheelchair and is moving into a new apartment with specialized accommodations. If there are any items left, everything must go! 3-5 volunteers are needed.

3) More projects pending.

Requirements to participate:
- Enjoy hands-on work
- Be available Saturday mornings (or the occasional weekday)
- Adults and high school students welcome
- Sign a waiver
- Show up on time ready to help!

If interested, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@mysourcewise.com or call (408) 600-1389 for more information.

Arkansas Asset Builders is a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program partner, providing free, volunteer-prepared tax preparation to individuals and families with annual incomes up to $60,000. Tax refunds that include the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC) are an important resource for hard-working families, helping them to get ahead financially, pay down debt and work toward saving for the future.

At VITA sites, IRS-trained and certified volunteers prepare and electronically file state and federal income tax forms at no charge and determine a taxpayer’s qualifications for tax credits and refunds. We help our clients avoid predatory fees and financial products offered by the for-profit tax preparation industry that target low-income households with the largest tax refunds.

Since 2017, Arkansas Asset Builders’ volunteers have prepared over 2,480 tax returns, saving our clients $590,000 in avoided tax preparation fees and returning more than $2.3 million in federal tax refunds to our community. Sign up to be a VITA volunteer and put more tax refund money in the pockets of hard-working Arkansans!

IF YOU HAVE THESE SKILLS…
- Experience using computers;
- Time to commit at least three hours per week from late-January until mid-April; and,
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, in English or Spanish.
WE’LL PROVIDE ALL THE TRAINING YOU NEED TO SERVE WITH US!

The majority of our volunteer activities are conducted in person at the Faulkner County Library in Conway, AR, however remote volunteer opportunities may also be available. Email volunteer@arkansasassetbuilders.org if you are specifically interested in remote service.
