Volunteers are needed to help older adults who are less-than-tech savvy participate in our annual scavenger hunt fundraiser using a smart phone based app. Volunteers would download the game app on their phone and participate as a team with one or more older adult (dependent on the number of volunteers, teams are flexible and to be discussed with organizer)Scavenger hunt 'missions' take place over the course of 10 days in September (September 10-20) and only within these six cities: Highland Heights, Lyndhurst, Mayfield Heights, Mayfield Village, Richmond Heights and South Euclid, Ohio). Volunteers would be matched with the older adult(s) to coordinate when/which missions they would complete together but at your leisure. Missions may include word answers or picture/video submissions and can include visiting a restaurant together, attending a concert together or taking a video of your team performing air guitar (for example). It's a lot of fun for all involved!
Volunteers with any education/background skills are welcome! You just have to have some time available and a willingness to commit (and of course have a smart phone and understand how to use it :) )

Trained volunteers meet qualified walkers at their homes and enjoy some time outside together. The walker will be screened for safety to participate and the volunteer will participate in a 1 hour training session and undergo a background check. Volunteers must provide a photo to be used on their Let's Walk ID badge that will be worn during participation in the program. Walkers and volunteers sign a waiver to state that they are safe to participate in voluntary walking with others. Walkers can use any device needed to allow them to be safe while walking and it can be whatever distance they can tolerate, some just walk down the driveway and others can walk a mile. The walker will be assessed by a licensed therapist to participate and the information will be provided to the volunteer along with contact information to schedule a time that works for both parties. We keep volunteers close to home for many reasons: less time involved to help others, good knowledge of surroundings for safety, get to know your neighbors, do good in your own community.
